I drive 6 to 12 hours for work in a day sometimes, so 4 hours is nothing. If I can save
10k by driving 4 hours, then hell yeah I will do it!! That just paid for my upgrades. There are a lot of people on this site from all over that are not paying more than MSRP and they don't live close to this area either. I love to road trip and make it an experience to get my car, if I have to. I would rather not drive down to the local dealer and bring the lube along.

In the new internet age, buying at local dealers is out-dated. I bought my last 4 cars from a distance of 400+ miles, paid well below invoice for each of them.

Is there this many f-bod drivers on the mustang boards?

Personally, i like the mustang. Would I ever buy one? Probably not, but that doesn't mean it's a bad car by any means. It's more than capable of looking decent and going fast.

It was my personal choice to buy the new Camaro and I don't feel I have to justify my purchase to people on a mustang forum. I'm glad we all don't drive the same cars, would be lame as hell if everybody drove Camaros.

One last thing, comparing two different cars with two completely different MSRP's in a stock for stock test is kind of meaningless as the higher priced car SHOULD out perform the other. If it's logical to compare a GT500 to a Camaro SS, with a 10-15k higher sticker, would it also be logical to compare a v6 Mustang to a SS Camaro? Both comparisons have similar price differences and it's with those price differences that one should out perform another. Until we start seeing Camaros with a 45-50k sticker, GT500 crusaders are going to need to either stop beating this dead horse of a topic or get used to competing with the 'vette owners. Seeing as price seems to come into every 'vette vs. gt500 argument it shouldn't be hard to carry this logic to the SS vs. GT500.

I would like to have the cars in your garage also!! Now all you need is an SS to round out the big 3.

This is true..but GT500 or even Mustang guys did not start this thread...Edmund decided to do the test...I to think its sort of crazy, But think this, if Edmunds would have said the Camaro SS competed or was better..man..this board would have every other post up about it.

In the end, the GT500 is a step above a SS, as it should be. Its a different car all together.

Amen, that would be the perfect trifecta before Obama dials back the fun meter. Thanks

For those of us who don't have the $48K to buy a Shelby... Bring on the Camaro baby!! I'm only paying $32K for mine...I save $16K and if I want I can put a shit-ton of mods on her and really be fast. It's and endless game once you start, you'll be the dog chasing your own tail. The car only needs to be as fast as you want it to be.

Funny how some folks don't have enough money to buy a $48K car but they have enough money to put a "shit-ton" of mods on their $32K car.

Normally I'd combat this idea, seeing as I look at the GT500 as a car for people buying a name over performance, or for someone who wants to live on a drag strip. Two things i dont respect.

However, im with you here.

It's not gonna take that much $$$$ to make the SS faster than the 500. $40K is my cut off so i'll get my 1ss and get it well into the 500 rwhp range for that.

Hmmm Unless you have a shop or shop access, and can do the work yourself...Me~thinks its going to take more than 40k !

Lets see LT, Exhaust, Cam, Dyno Tune, CIA(can do yourself I hope)...Plus whatever else that was on that list... then add labor....you need to get 500+ at the wheels...at least 510 to take a stock one. And I highly doubt you run into a stock one racing.

Just saying.

....Why would you need ''at least 510'' ?

The GT500 doesnt make 510 to the wheels, AND its heavier than the SS.

Care to explain?
