Overkill South in FL does these with the Cloyes for around $1400 complete. They do rebuilds on these constantly. They're in Palmetto FL. Have done all the work on my car, and specialize on the V6 LLT, LFX and LGX camaros. Shoot PM if you need any info.

Thanks for the offer.
When I posted, I had already picked my Camaro back up from the dealer.

My wife has a 2008 CTS with the 3.6 DI. and has this issue as well. Light will come on for a few days, car runs like crap, light will eventually go off and run just fine. Cadillac dealer quote 2700-3400 to fix

Threw the code a week ago at 105k. Never as issue before. Changed my oil always with Mobile One Full Synthetic Extreme when it showed 30%. Never run low on oil either. I see many different situations so I will share mine as well. I will be replacing chains this week with the Cloyes kit. My issue is that it threw the code, I cleared it and it has been running like a champ since.

You mention changing the oil at 30%. How many miles between changes? How was the car driven? Highway miles? City Miles? All comes into a factor for when the chains could be stretching and how long you can go.

I’m wondering if this is a setting in the computer. My wifes (mentioned above) cel light came on at ~105k as well. I know that GMhad a service bulletin about this an said to bring it to the dealer to reflash the computer for new timing perimeters. Don’t know if it’s been done on mine but something to look into.

I haven’t heard or read about one actually breaking.

Same issue

Read though all 19 pages of timing chain headaches. Lots of stress, disappointment and even a little good cheer sprinkled in there. I’m in the Socal area and I drive my 2010 2LT as my primary. I just flagged a code P008 in May at 85000 miles and when I went in to the dealer they quoted $2500 and 10 days to diagnose the issue. I drove it 3 months and in August at 87000 miles she started to drive louder and had significantly less power. I took her to a local mechanic I trust and he suggested I find a dealer that can help with a special warranty policy since the extended warranty only covered the license plate and all the other warranties were expired. I see that this 3.6L engine has had many issues with the chain; regular oil changes or not. I’ve been good to her, changing her oil at 4000/5000 miles intervals. Yes, synthetic Mobile-1, no I don’t know if it’s full or blend. Debating now to have the reliable mechanic take her engine apart or to trust the dealer that didn’t even mention they would apply the $2500 they first quoted to repair work. Wish that Brandon sales rep was in california. Will update.

I always changed mine around 65-70% , That was always around 3000-3500 miles for me . I am at 107,000 with no chain issues yet . Knock on wood !

Just over 106k in my 2010 daily. and boyyyyyy i she not happy at allllll.....I change my oil (mobil 1 full synth 5w30) every 3k-ish. Threw a p0014-Exhasut(B) Camshaft Position Timing-Over-Advanced(Bank1) a few hours and started running horrible. Sounds like it is missing when first starting, can not get above 5k rpm consistently, and there is also that ticking sound someone mentioned earlier. Came completely out of the blue. Paranoia/fear is telling me "Hey your timing set is about to shred everything south of your cams". I'm sure this thread will only continue to grow larger and larger.

Ours just threw that code to. But our cel will go off and on. It has been doing it since November. Went to to have it scanned they said it could be a bad oil filter. They changed the oil and filter today. But if it comes back on its the timing chain. We have 114,209 miles on ours. The dealership that I went to said it would be $3000-$4000 since they have to drop the engine out the bottom of the car. We have only used Mobil-1full synthetic oil. Was it bad to do it at 25% on the computer?

It was only 1800 to do the timing chain at my local dealership. They didn't have the drop the engine, they just took the front off.
