Since the port is responsible GM will want full value from the port for the car, so given the option they won't fix it. I don't blame them at all. Its a shame, but it makes sense.

It will get crushed. Since it happened before it was in the dealer's possession, it was still GM's responsibility. They know that there are repurcussions if they attempted to fix it and sell it as new. From a corporate standpoint, they can't and won't do that. I saw several new Fords go to the scrap heap for the same reason. Legally, they must be crushed.
After the dealler has possession of the car, GM is no longer involved if something happens to it. The dealer can elect to repair any damage that is sustained while in their possession. They do so at their own risk and are 100% responsible for any problems that arise thereafter. It's in the dealer's best interest to do this, but if the damage exceeds a certain dollar amount, they are legally bound to disclose it.

I have seen the car in person and my friend at the dealership says it definitely will be crushed. A couple of us are trying to gather transportation data for an intercept so we'll see. It ain't over until it's over!!

I think because of the circumstances that it was wrecked is why they're gonna crush it.. just so they can sue / jail the person responsible for the full amount of the car.
sounds about right atleast. |
