Time to put the 315 vs 295 debate to bed!***

Here is a picture comparing the 295 from Michelin to the 315 from Nitto.

Notice the actual width of the Michelin is 1/2" WIDER than the Nitto yet the actual sizing is labeled smaller.

I hope this clears up the debate.

Michelin Pilot Super Sport

Nitto Invo

Michelin Super Sport

Comparing side by side.

Finally this is the 275 Michelin vs the 275 Invo.

The section width (unmounted) of my 315/35 NT05's was 11.4 measured with an 0-18" caliper. This is exactly what the published specs state.

Is the diameter the same or similar on the 295 vs the 315?

The section width is published at 11.9" for the 295 and is dead nuts on. The reason for this thread is so many people get caught up with a number. Pictures really don't even show it as well as you can plainly see in person. The 295 Michelin is simply wider than the 315 Nitto Invo.

Mike: While on the topic of Michelin tires and their 30K miles warranty. I read on their ad that it was based on same size tires all around (you have to rotate the tires as recommended). With staggered tires, the warranty is only 15K? Any info on this?

I have known for a long time that nittos run a little narrower than any other tire by a little.

Looks like a 20x11 F14.
Your INVOs may be fat and wide, but looks like the Pilots are fatter and wider.

I don't plan on lowering my car so I want stock height. The 295 in a 20 is shorter but the about the same in a 18"? I think I want TSW Nurburgring I like the 20" for looks .
What is the better combo.

You are correct. The warranty on the back would be 15k but the front is 30k. It's the only performance tire on the market with a warranty. Obviously there are exclusions for racing.

Yes but most people don't understand how wide the Michelins really are.

These are 1/2" lower in the rear and 1" lower in the front.

They are truly amazing tires. Road noise is non existent and the grip makes the nitto invos look like an old 15x8 radial!
