Suede/Alcantara wheel and shifter longevity?

Searched and only finding older posts how are your wheels and shifters holding up? Any daily driven 1LE's with some miles on them that can report how their looking and if you've done any cleaning/maintenance?

It should be similar to the CTS-V stuff. It should wear smooth on the wheel and knob. Some have suggested a suede brush to help with longevity(which I need to try). Also it would probably be a good idea to buy duplicates while the parts are still available. They're less expensive as a pair than some of these cold air kits.

I thinking of possibly buying leather versions of the wheel and shift knob to install and save the suade, but the only option for a leather flat bottom wheel would be a ZL1 wheel correct?

Daily driven here for almost a year, around 9,000 miles. Still looks perfect, cleans up very easily with a damp microfiber.

Replacements are so cheap, I haven't worried about getting them dirty or greasy. But, doesn't even look like that will be necessary for a long time.

Yea, I'm at 3k, my shift knob doesn't look incredible and my wheel is starting to get some flat spots from where I generally hold it. When I get back I'm gonna try and get a suede brush to stand it all back up and hopefully make it look good again.

Yes I like the sound of replacements. I don't care about the shift knob so much but the wheel, yes. Where do I get replacements; cheap?

Jim
Sorry about the sentence structure.

Gen5DIY has them I think. You would have to transfer the airbag too but not totally positive on that. You can message him on here to get more details.

I had around 7k on mine and the wheels and knob were becoming a bit matted. They still looked good and felt ok, but the used wasn't fuzzy like it is new. Neither ever seems dirty or greasy or anything, just a bit compressed. I bet a brushing would have helped it out.

I picked up a pair of black under armor batting gloves the same day i picked up my 1LE from my dealer. First thing I do is put them on as soon as I get behind the wheel. One year later and both the wheel and my shifter look like they did on day one. People notice the gloves when you are picking up a burger at the drive thru .... But just smile and tell them it adds 10 HP.

My car is about one year old with 7000 miles on it. I thought the suede shift knob was gone, worn out heavily matted and also spots on the top part of the wheel.

Well, I got out a tooth brush, fairly stiff bristle, but not too stiff.

I started on the shift knob first, vigoursly brushing the heavily matted parts that look worn away. Well nothing at first but after a few minutes I saw parts of it coming back. After 10 to 15 minutes of that the entire shift knob looked new, yes new. I did the steering wheel as well. Like new. I could not believe it.

Now I keep tooth brush in console and every once and awhile I brush it and it continues to look like new.
