Turbo M6 or A6?

Sold my 1LE a while back and will be getting another base ss to build. Going with AGP twin turbo kit, ZL1 rear end, axles, one piece driveshaft. I don't track the car at all or drag strip the car. Just enjoy fast street car! So the question to be is should I go with A6 or M6?

A6 would be a lot more boost friendly, and easier on hard parts, but the 6l80 isn't gonna hold the amount of power I want so I'm gonna have to run 4l80. So that's more cost to do that.

M6 is a lot more fun to drive on the street, would like some input from you turbo'd M6 guys. Loved my camed 1LE M6! So much fun to drive but I always said when I go turbos I would want automatic to keep boost up and easier to drive at WOT burnouts and fun sliding turns.

Auto ftw!

Have you considered a 6l90? Those hold more than the 6l80.

I haven't found a lot of info on the 6l90, I just know of people with big power and wanting to beat on it go with the 4l80. And I've ran the 4l80 in my turbo Silverado and couldn't hurt that thing and it was bone stock 4l80 with a converter.

If you start with a manual car, it's super easy to get to 800whp. Stock engine, stock trans. And if you do a built motor and want 1000whp the stock trans will still hold that, just go with a decent clutch.

The 6L80 is only good to about 650whp but the L99 can be run up to 750 stock. So IMO the minimum an L99 guy should do is a 6L90 swap so he can get at least the potential out of his stock motor. The swap is about $4000 with brand new parts if you do it yourself. But could be done much much cheaper with a used trans. The problem comes with the auto cars when you want to do built motor 1000whp. The 6L90 will hold that but not for long. Same with these crazy $9000 built 6Lx0 trans, they will hold LOTS of power but not for long.

So if ultimate goal is 1000whp then you need to just start with the much easier manual trans car, or plan on swapping in a 4L80. And that means ordering your turbo kit with the 4L80 changes. My opinion on the matter is if you want best performance off the line or under 30mph then auto wins every single time. But for all around fast street car that is fun to drive and will only need to be crazy fast after you're rolling, then manual.

I voted A6 on accident but M6 all the way. No need for an auto unless you plan or doing a lot of dig racing and you don't so keep three pedals. The only reason I would ever recommend a auto is if that person lives their life a quarter mile at a time and nothing else.

Unless you want to stop at 650rwhp start with a manual. Better lifters/cam/etc, and if/when you do a 4l80 later, cheaper/easier swap IMO.

So M6 turbo car will still be great for what I'm wanting? (As far as just a fun fast badass street car). Thanks for the input AGP! That was what I was looking for, and I'm glad you mentioned that unreal about going from a manual to auto is a lot easier than vise versa I was curious about that

Input from myself. 630 RWHP stock. Just bolted on AGP kit.

It's a blast took 3 people out this year to feel the TWINS and they have a
permagrin.

1&2 take getting used to as you lose traction in both and the shift comes pretty quick.
I like to do 2 pulls in 1&2 for them but 3rd can go straight and get the full 630 RWHP!!!

Now I'm held up by reliability and building parts of the car to go up into the 700's. Others will say I can go but for peice of mind I'm holding back.

I would do TWINS again and hope AGP puts something out for the C7.

What kind of clutch do you guys recommend? I wanna buy a clutch for the power I plan to reach for (900-1000). I wanna just go ahead and look for a clutch in that power range even though I won't go straight to that level, just slowly work my way there turning the boost up and upgrading parts

A RPS triple seems to work best for the Camaro's.

What power and torque do you make? With a TT setup making 900-1000rwhp it will make almost the same in torque and the triple will handle that since the twin is rated for that power level. A friend of mine drives his triple just fine on the street.

My street slayer triple drives great, not sure what issues you've seen with the triple that you haven't had with the twin. But to OP street slayer is great especially if you want over 1k hp

Yeah that's what I was thinking too, I was gonna ask yall about the street slayer clutches cause that's what I was gonna be putting in my 1LE but never did. So the drivability of the triple is decent? It doesn't have to be great as the car will not be DD. it would be a weekend cruiser so drivability on a race car is way down on my list lol
