I don't know how to drive a manual transmission, so I bought my 400HP V8 with an automatic transmission. Still significantly more fun than any car that I have ever owned.

I'll learn one of these days...

When I owned a standard transmission powered car before I hated wearing my legs out to manipulate the clutch and brake in heavy traffic. Secondly, I was afraid that with this much horsepower combined with our lack of driving a standard for many years might not be a great idea from a safety perspective.

Auto, cuz I prefer a less task-filled ride and don't care what other people think.

Manual

1. The Automatic has 26 less hp at the engine.
2. Manuals have less loss due to the drivetrain. It's like a 5% power increase across the entire powerband.

This comes out to a 40 rwhp difference between the L99 and LS3 which is significant.

3. The Automatic has AFM that sounds good, but actually ends up with a little less fuel economy over the manual.
15/24 Automatic
16/24 Manual

4. The AFM + VVT of the L99 makes the car more complex to modify, but delivers no real advantage in fuel economy or power output. In fact, with cam installs they convert the L99 to a LS3.
5. For 2013 the automatic is listed as 4 tenths slower in the quarter.
6. The automatic as far as I know has no dual mode exhaust option.
7. The automatic is slightly heavier.
8. I like driving manual and it doesn't bother me. I get to choose performance or fuel economy any time.

I just would prefer to drive a Camaro with a stick.

Then again, I sold mine because my health issues impact my driving a stick on a daily basis now.

That being said, if/when I get a ZL1...it will be stick. It won't be my daily driver though.

Wanted a Camaro, but had bad knees, got the automatic. I'm happy with my choice.
