Lost my keys!! Can a copy be made if no bar code?
I cannot not find my keys for the life of me!(I do have my spare) I have been searching for hours! Im not worried about the house keys that are on it Im just worried that I wont be able to replace it! The little bar code that came with the keys hasnt been seen since I moved. If I cant find the bar code can I still have another one made?

Don't you just need the VIN?

Any dealer can make a replacement from the VIN. You'll have to bring in proof of ownership, such as the registration.

Replacements can be made, no problem. However, it'll probably run you a couple Benjamins... :/
Hopefully you didn't lose it near any places that you park regularly........

that is so true we had to switch dealerships because our original knew absolutely nothing and refused to join C5 to learn what we already knew

There is a website all dealers have access to that they can look up your key code to make a new one. The code is also on the invoice, so the selling dealer will also have the code in the sales records.

If you pay any more than $60 you are making your dealer a very serious profit. GM has taken steps to make sure keys can be dupblicated for that price. Any more goes to your dealer.

The way these keys are cut they will be ordered into your dealer, should only take a few days to a week. You will need to provide proof of ownership and registration. I believe the last one I saw at work was less than a hundred. You will of course have to program the new key/fob also. Dealer can handle all this.

when I had my remote start installed, the key fob was priced separate from the actual remote start mechanism. I got my new key fob/key for $33.00

The key itself won't be a problem. The issue will come when trying to program the fob. Without your original key they will have to go in with a computer and program your computer and the fob.
