Anyone in West Los Angeles have an SS?
Still strugling with the "will it go up my driveway" issue? If you live in West LA and would like to make a couple of bucks, let me know. Not asking you to ruin your car, just do a carefully controlled attempt to drive up my driveway.
I Live in Pacific Palisades. Thanks |

How do your other cars make it up your driveway? Or do you drive just SUVs now? I dont see a problem. The front wheels of the Camaro are moved a bit more forward than most sportscars, as you can see in the pics. So, I think it can easily clear any driveway. If you have driven the 80's Camaros, the front lip always rubbed on inclines and speed bumps but you learn to approach at an angle to clear. So if u have a steep driveway, just approach an angle and you'll be ok.

I have worked this issue pretty carefully
Just don't want to make the investment and have to park it on the street.
Here's the scoop. I have a 99 Passat which I lowered somewhat. It has 8 inches of ground clearance on the front spoiler whereas the Camaro has 5. Also the Passat has a 19" shorter wheelbase and is 12" shorter from the center of the front wheels to the nose. The driveway is very narrow which limits the angle attack opportunities. Also, the water main in the street broke a few years ago and raised the street about 5 or 6 inches and it only went down about 3 so there is a bump. Trust me, I have worked this and worked this and just want to know I can get the car in the garage without tearing up the front end. Even with the Passat I have to be very careful not to scrape the front while backing up our drive. I am not a rookie with lowered cars, just being cautious. As I said, I buy the car then can't get it into the garage. Not good. |

Go test drive a Vette or Mustang. I'm sure if they don't scrape, the Camaro won't.

SSOCH- great idea. Call me stupid
The local Chevy dealer won't let a Camaro off his lot but Vettes are so marked down he'll probably be happy to let me take a ride. LOL, however, a guy I know, one street over, keeps a couple of planks by his driveway to drive his Vette up and down his driveway. Not gonna do that. I know I'm a little anal but I want one of these cars so bad, but have limits.

If I'm not mistaken, the 'vette is a lot lower than the Camaro..my dad has a C6 and it scrapes on everything.

Waiting for Avis to get Camaros
I have waiting for AVIS to get one to rent but so far no one at Avis seems to know when they'll arrive. That's why I was trying this alternative. Renting is obviously the best deal because I can push it a bit whereas with a private owner I wouldn't expect them to scrape up their spoiler for my benefit. I'll put in a pix tomorrow.

Last word I got was for June 18 on my war. I drive to Santa Monica for work. I'll check the boards to see if you've been able to find someone by then.
