So what if I wanted something like 315's on the rear, but with the factory wheel design? Will GMPP or GM be releasing any wider wheels?

Highly doubtful. Where did you hear 315's will fit?

We don't know what the rear wells will accept yet. 315s might be out of the question without modifications (that requires something like an 11" wheel at least) but maybe a 275-285, maybe a 295 might fit on a wider custom wheel. When people start really receiving their cars, we'll have a better idea of how wide we can go. Personally, I am hoping we can at least go 10-11" wide out back without having to do any work.
EDIT: I'd add there might be quite a market for a stock reproduction in a 22" format to replicate the look of the concept, which had 21"s in the front and 22"s out back. |

Well, I don't know what will fit, but a buddy of mine recently stuck 315's on the back of his Saleen S281, and I'd hate to have kolache weiners next to his polish sausages.

I actually just saw a thread about the 427 LS7, and it has 305's on the rear.

There are places that will widen your stock wheels. I've never tried it though. Time will tell how wide we will be able to fit. I'm hoping to fit an 11" with 315's on the rear also.

I bet some ZR1 replicas with some 315's would look great. You might have to roll the inside of the fenders which to my understanding a body shop could do it and it wont affect the outside look of the fenders. Maybe someone else with this type of experience could add some more info. |

With an aftermarket wheel with the proper positive offset and width, there is no physical reason you can't put a 315 or 335 tire in the back.
Sure, you may be limited to 285's with the stock wheels but you won't be able to widen the stock wheels much, if any, due to the spoke / lip design. Adding width to the stock wheels will push the inner edge futher into the wheel well and there may not be room to add width in that direction. Adding width that pushes the outer edge of the wheel further out shouldn't be an issue because the tires don't tuck up under the fender edge. Now, if you did go with aftermarket wheels and 315's or 335's, you're likely going to push the outer edge of the tires past the edge of the fenders. In some states that's not legal, just ask people that drive trucks with big ol' off-roading tires on them. Even the stock SS/RS tires line up fairly close to the outer edge of the fenders already. Having said all that, my Camaro is getting at least 305's on the rear, even if it means going with aftermarket wheels. Rear fenders like these just beg for wide tires (305+), anything else is, um, less than adequate. |

Just keep in mind that if you have your wheels widened, they add the extra width to the inside of the rim (towards the wheel well)... I've known people who had an extra inch added, then used a 1/4" spacer to put the wheel a little more to the outside. My guess is that there will be about 2 or 3" to play with between the wheel and fender well, maybe 4".
By the way... if I remember correctly, they do not widen cast aluminum.

That's my plan... if it'll fit. Widen the rears to 11" wearing Nitto INVOs 315/35/20's and throw on a spacer, maybe 25-40mm to push it back out. I can't imagine it's so tight inside the wheel well that we won't have room to add a half to a full inch inside, and after seeing the car in person I'm pretty sure there's about an inch on the street side to play with. Between the widening and adding the spacers the stance should be ridiculous! And aluminum wheels can be widened... this guy does it and charges $200 - $300 per wheel. The great thing is that he's only a few miles from where my wheels will be powder coated after being widened.
