I’m buying both those shirts! My mom has a mustang it’ll be perfect to wear for Christmas dinner!

Spyderbuddy is correct about sport mode in the ‘10’s, except mine doesn’t shift automatically into first when using the paddles.

Right. It will never downshift back into first using manual mode. I use TapShift nearly 100% of the time, over 80k of the last miles I have put on the car. When you come to a stop it will only drop down to second gear, you must manually put it into first, if you prefer.

Mine goes to first when I come to a complete Stop, I went and checked. Run it around the block.

It looks like your car is tuned, could be part of the tune? Or maybe a v6 vs v8 thing?

Same here, once I start using tap shift it automatically gears down to second once stopped. You can access first but you have to tap it down manually.

I'm Thinking V6 thing, V8's have more torque down low.
I don't believe it's a Tune.
But i do believe GM retuned the 12's and up differently.

Yup, the 2012 model year and up TCM got an algorithm update on the SS models. One of the improvements was reduced shift delay when using TapShift. I don't recall the specific millisecond improvement, but it was rather substantial compared to 2010/2011 models. There are some articles out there if you search for them.

I have a feeling you are mainly correct. But I think it is likely at least partially due to CAFE standards for fuel economy, since on the L99 2nd gear is perfectly suitable for takeoff when maximum torque is not required. But on the same token, I doubt very much that any fuel standard testing was done via TapShift, and was likely left in full regular auto mode. My car doesn't bog or mind at all when I take off in second. But obviously it is not best for racing unless traction is an issue.

Either way, it is highly possible that the V6 cars start in 1st using TapShift while the L99 does not unless manually placed in 1st. There are other TapShift behaviors that are different between the engines, so it wouldn't be that strange.

I am using M1 now but did race it using M2 launching in 2nd and at that turned a 13.2. I'd most likely realize a better time if I had used M1.

Is there any way to get the program to stay in the more aggressive sport mode that kicks in when you are cornering hard?

I love the aggressive mode and hate that it shuts down after a straightaway or bit of low speed driving.

Is your car tuned? Or stock. I asked this in your other thread too.

Still stock. I'm hoping there is a way to enable Adaptive Mode at my discretion. Maybe a cheat or workaround?

Thanks!

Came across this post in doing a search. Just purchased a 2010 SS, and drove it home 4 hrs knowing nothing about the Tap Shift detail, other than activating it in "M" selection and using the paddles. So I was driving in regular "D" and kept bumping the damn LH paddle, which sent me into Sport Mode wether I wanted to or not. So I just tapped it into "M6" which I assumed was 6th gear for normal highway driving. What I wasn't sure was WHY if go's into Sport mode when you are in "D" selection, and how to get out of Tap Shift Mode while driving?

To get it out of tapshift while driving you just have to shift from sport/manual mode back to normal drive. After doing this if you shift back to sport mode, tap shift will be disabled until you use the steering wheel shift buttons again. In normal drive mode my buttons on both cars were/are disabled. Not sure why you would be going into sport mode if the shifter is in drive.

On my car if you drive it in the "D" selection, you can use the tap shift buttons if you want to to shift down and back up, the only thing about that is that when you DON'T use the tap shift for a few seconds, it will revert back to the "D" mode you are in. Put the shifter in the "S" mode for manual driving and you can use the tap shift buttons to shift up and down. When you come to a stop in manual mode, it will only down shift to second gear, if you want first, you have to tap it down. When you start rolling again, remember YOU have to upshift, hence "manual" mode, the computer won't do it for you, it will ONLY in slowing down to stop. While your driving in the manual mode and using the tap shift buttons and you are cruising and want to go back to "S" mode, all you have to do is hold the UPSHIFT button for about 3 seconds, and you will see it change from "M" to "S" on your DIC center screen. You do not need to move the shifter to the "D" position. Hope this clears things up. My car has been this way ever since I learned about how it works, many moons ago!! lol.
