I would suggest a good pair of driving shoes and gloves. The feedback you get through your everyday treads is limited. Feedback is essential to confidence in the brake zones! The gloves will help keep the blisters to a minimum....

Noticed you were in AZ, if it's a sunny day in the desert, bring a pair of sunglasses! You don't realize how bright it gets out there, whenever I go somewhere bright it's essential to have a tinted visor or at least something where you aren't squinting the whole way around the track because its so bright. Let me know if you have any questions at all, I've been around the track a bit!

Any recommendation on a torque wrench? I've been looking on the internet, but, honestly I have no idea what to buy. I was going to just use a star wrench, but I thought I remember reading in another thread that a star wrech is a "no-no".

I found a good inflator and pressure gauge at Checker. A towel is easy. Helmet is taken care of as well. So, I'm really just looking for a decent torque wrech. Thanks again for all your help. I replaced the diff. fluid, transmisson fluid and had my oil changed this weekend, so all my fluids should be good.

I have a lightly used 20 year old torque wrench from Sears, it broke and they wouldn't replace it under their warrantee.

If you're a young fella, buy a Snap-On, more expensive, but it's the last torque wrench you'll ever buy. (Unless it get's lost/stolen)

When you are inbetween sessions out on the track, DO NOT PUT THE EMERGENCY BRAKE ON while the car is parked. That way the rotors will cool evenly, and not warp on you.

All the other posts have great suggestions.

Walk the course at least twice if you have time, plus attend the novice walk. Everyone's a novice once.

Sit in the driver's seat, close your eyes and envision the track layout, with your hands on the wheel, feet moving from accelerator to brake pedal, every move you plan to make on the course. Then look at your copy of the track diagram and make sure you've memorized it. Get out of the car and look at the course again. You won't get Fast Time of the Day (FTD) the first time out, but you'll have the time of your life!

Thanks for all of the input! I can't wait! Just looking to have fun and not to be a hero. Car is too expensive to crash, but too good not to push it a bit. Looking for some fun, but sane fun.

Track day is this Saturday the 17th, so you're friend is a little late. I had to RSVP about a month ago. There are 4 groups of 7-10 cars that run for 20 minute sessions. Morning sessions go from 9:15am-noon. Fortunately, lunch is provided from noon to 1pm. The pm session goes from 1pm-5pm, same groups. I'm hoping that my fiance gets some good video and I'll do my best to take pics when I'm not driving. I'm guessing that I'm going to see some other nice rides.

Inde Motorsports Ranch did an excellent job in the eyes of this novice. Facilities are is nice, staff treat you better than most 5 star hotels, and the course is well managed and as safe as can be for machines at speed. Great runouts/gravel traps for all corners and the staff are on top of safety. The are also tops for hospitality. Felt more like a reunion than a track day. A big plus for me as a novice what getting a ride around with a professional instructor. Included with the fee and I learned how to have fun during the first session. Had a ball with the course. Camaro is kinda heavy for a technical course, but it was a blast and did get it up to 115 mph. I would recommend this course to anybody. Mainly 3rd/4th gear, but with lots of elevation changes and decreasing radius corners. If anything, its just worth coming out to see the nice cars. Kinda fun to see a Lotus put the hurt on fast Vettes. Some nice toys were out on the track, but they keep everybody segregated into relatively equal groups. Currently out of town, but will post some vids and pics when I get home.
