Gingerman?

It is a very good suspension and brake track. Highly technical. A lot of OEM work goes on there for the same reasons I like to use it. LOTS of runoff so you don't hurt the driver or the car when testing setups. Even Gingerman will bite you. I was running in a G8 base-lining the OE setup. Warmed up and ran one hot lap. Cooled down came in and checked everything. Looks good. Wait an hour to cool and run again. Three hot laps. Check again. All is good. Wait another hour and run again. It is all OE so caution is the rule. On my second hot lap running down the back straight wide open with a hard turn to the right down the front straight. Hit the brakes -- what brakes???? Uh oh. Cement wall straight ahead. Knowing the track really helps when things go wrong. just a bit to the left dumps to the pit area and then a parking lot. Good thing there as plenty of run off. The rear pads had disintegrated leaving nothing but OE backing plate to the rotors.

Familiar with the track...One Lap of America in 2000 ran 4 events there. Nice facility, and South Haven is a great spot in the summer.

Yeah, 12 mph is BIG! How did the lap times compare?

I love that kind of idle!! That's one thing I really miss on many of today's high performance engines.

Actually, you can emulate that ruppata-ruppata idle with a fairly mild cam lift...and a very tight LDA...but it's murder on your power brakes...ask me!! My Stage 1 has an idle like that, and I have to slow down/stop with the Automagic in Neutral...gulp! But she sounds bitchin'!! Not often challenged...

So You Wanna Build An LS7?!

Snagged from another thread, here, follow along an engine build @ Wixom Performance Build Center...

http://www.g4tv.com/videos/55966/ali...-build-center/

The Open House, back in August, was a must-attend affair. Glad I got to see it, firsthand.

EDIT:

This just in from GM Media..."Build your own LS7 or LS9"...without buying a Vette!

What I find interesting, is that the 1LE concept doesn't really follow the original 1LE philosophy of a stripped performance model...but it IS designed for a road course, without a doubt. One of the prerequisites in this thread for a Z28...

And the COPO dragster is race-oriented with a 427....also something demanded in here.

You ever get the feeling they're toying with us?

In all honesty, and I'm sure this won't be well-recieved...In my very humble, and personal opinion - I think the closest we're going to get to a Z28 as requested in here is the 1LE concept at SEMA...basically a "grand sport" Camaro - to draw a metaphor with Corvette...

It's parts-bin, thus relatively inexpensive to develop (and charge), and effective....I can tell you if the car were in the showroom today, I'd consider it strongly...

I was at the GM SEMA unveil party tonight. The COPO Drag Camaro does not have a 427, yet. A 'revised' motor is in development. Hmmmmm....
