v6 and v8 have different Tachometer's - Camaro5 Chevy Camaro Forum / Camaro ZL1, SS and V6 Forums

I was searching through Pics and i noticed the v8's tacho is bolder and bigger where as the v6's is smaller

is tachometer the right word im looking for?

yea and the speedo is also diff. I noticed that before. The SS speedo also goes higher.

The funny thing is I believe the V6 will crank more RPM's than the V8 coming out of the factory without any mods.

why the heck do they bother with a 180 speedo if the thing car is governed to 155?

For the switch to metrics..... you do that in the DIC, and if you do it while driving, you can actually see the needle auto calibrate and jump to the converted measurement.

So, of course since 60 mph is 100 km/hr, you need a few more notches than the top speed in mph.

But I will admit it looks cool as hell. Beats the alternative in the late 1970s-mid 1980's when EVERY American car (even Corvettes) had a 85 mph speedo with the 55 highlighted.

i thought that the "SS" at the base of the needles was different than that.
