The Driver is the Difference
Thought I'd share this here, and poke a bit of fun
Whats interesting truly is with the small mods done, no go fast, but just suspension for wheel hop, and a OF X-pipe, and some weight reduction, most notable front sway bar, then the spare, jack, ect....the driver did this well. The DA was +2500 ft for that pass. Hehe here is one where drivers, itl makes the difference Enjoy ! I will say I like the sripping on that car with the color. Definitely nice. The driver makes all the difference for sure.
However, you're leaving out important details, here's the post of what the guy did to his car: Quote:
Nice for sure though. |

What are the weights on the rear? He didn't really explain when someone else asked him either, just said that some have 'em.

Hmm I went out and looked at my 08...I truly have no ideal...I never seen them before...new for 2010 maybe ?? I mean I see nothing by my LCA's or Uppers...or inside the spring/shock wells...So I have no clue.

Must have been a bracket race on the second video, the Mustang kept tapping his brakes.

There are weights on the axle housing I would asssume to dampen vibration. Some Shelby owners have removed them.
That being said, and no hating on GM's as I previously owned a Corvette, the 12.96 pass is impressive simply due to the fact that the Mustang is down 111 horspower to the LS3. A GT is much lighter than a GT500 or a Camaro/Challenger. It will be interesting to see what the results are if the horsepower on them is increased for 2011.

There are two small weighs that are bolted to the rear end on S197 cars (where the LCA and shocks mount). From everything I've heard, they are there for NVH reasons only. I removed them from my 2005 Mustang GT and I never noticed any difference. Combined, they might weigh 3-5lbs. I still have them on my Shelby, as I see no real advantage to removing them.

Ahh ok. Well my 08 do not have them. So makes sense I guess. I wonder why on some, and not others then....

Good run. Yes driver is most important as it takes one to pull a sub 2.0 60ft and hit all the shifts. Traction helps too.
So will 2010 be the first MY GT in bone stock off the showroom floor trim to take a 12 sec slip home.... Would seem possible.
