ZL1 Production Info from the registry.
Assembly Oshawa, Ontario Canada There were 1,971 ZL1's produced for the initial 2012 model year (99 were officially allocated for Canada). Total Show Cars & Test CTF ZL1's: 69 | Grand Total Built = 1,971 Description RPO Code Count ZL1 with Clear Carbon Fiber Hood insert B92 1,548 ZL1 with DSW Stripe - (memo to B92) DSW 241 ZL1 with Black Carbon Fiber Insert -B92 423 ZL1 with DSX Stripe - (memo to -B92) DSX 96 ZL1 with Manual Transmission MG9 1,300 ZL1 with Automatic Transmission MYD 671 ZL1 with Optional Polished Wheel RTQ 1,058 ZL1 with Base Black Wheel RSK 913 There were also CTF ZL1's built this year as test models. Some of them will be re-sold to dealers and had different VINS then a production 2012 ZL1. The CTF VINS started with C9799XXX. ZL1 registry has just received the correct counts for the 2012 CTF ZL1's. The breakdown of these rare cars is: 8 ZL1's were strictly marketing cars 45 ZL1's were assigned as actual CTF test fleet Total number of the C9799XXX vin built for 2012 model year: 69 These preproduction ZL1's are very rare and will be collectors in the coming years. Our take here at the *********** is, if you find one buy it! I would agree with the registry that the first 69 to match the original 69 with the special and distinct VINs could have some extra value and a significant place in the history of the ZL1s. |

None of the '13s are rare. The only ZL that might be considered rare are the 4 IBM ZLs made for 2012.

The guy in Tempe thinks that because it has 2012 parts in it, it is a rare car. The "Dealer" also told him it was rare or "1 of a kind" as he has put it. It is a 2013 and it is not rare as he says it is and he will find out when he tries to trade it in or sell it.

Rick Hendricks owns serial #s 1, 2 and 69 of the 2012 ZL1. These and maybe a few more would be the only ones I would think could bring in this kind of $$.
He's huge into Chevy, as anyone who watches NASCAR should know. He also owns 2015 Z06 #1 and I think the first 2 Z06 C7s for 2016.

I'm a dealer. Only Vins 00001, and maybe to a lesser extent 00002 of 2012 might be worth extra money - Possibly $10-20k for 00001 to the right collector. 2012's had lower production numbers overall, but they are not collector items by any means - at least for a while. Esp with the GT500, and now the hellcat making much more power. I own a 13 Zl1, but they all only bring about $40k at the auction. 2015's bring a little more, but none in 2012, '13 and most in '14 bring 40k or less. I may be biased, but I think the 13 is the best deal, since they're the cheapest to buy and looks better than the '12 on the inside and the 14/15 on the outside.

'14-'15 ZL1s are the ones to have IMO; Recaros, MyLink and rear styling update (for some). '13s may be the best bargain ZLs though.

So what does CTF stand for? I would think that testing was done long before MY13, and even MY12?

The only rare one imo is Vin # 1, I doubt any of these cars will ever go up in value. They made over 9,000 in the 5 years of production right?
My thinking is If a 2017 ZL1 comes out on a better chassis, lighter and more hp why would anyone want a 5th gen ZL1?
