Ok, simply put, GM has pot holes bigger than your Philli pot holes in their nomal test schedule. Your Camaro was designed with the most severe roads and severe drivers alread considered.

You are safe.

Used to work there and I know what the cars are subjected to and it's pretty severe.

Yea was worried that might be the case. Luckily my neighbor is a fabricator. What do you think would be best aircraft grade aluminum, or stainless steel?

I think a skid plate is the least of your worries. If your hitting potholes where you think the car is going to bottom out, you need a truck.

I was on your other thread too. I think you need to move or buy a 4x4. I just can't wrap my head around having so many potholes that they are unavoidable. For instance, I was on my way home from the dentist Wed. and I saw some large potholes. I mean these damn things were 10"-12" deep x 14"-16" wide. If I had been on my Harley, I would've been going over the handlebars. I was in my work car and I still slowed down and drove AROUND them. I didn't floor it and drive straight into them. I would like to see detailed pictures of these potholes. If you can't avoid them, I'm envisioning craters every 4'-5' that run the entire width of the road. Holy Hell, it must look like a war zone where you live if this the case. Again, I'm not busting your chops, I just don't understand how they are completely, 100% unavoidable and you need to reinforce your car like Mad Max.

I'm in Philly and the roads aren't too bad, but it could be worse. The Camaro is a great car and just make sure you get the warranty. I got a tire and wheel warranty so if I crack a rim or get a flat I'm covered. I've had a 2001 Camaro as a daily driver and it made out fine and now my 2010 is making out fine with daily driver duty.

I just ordered service ramps today. When they get here I'm going to get a better look at how this car is made. I think I'm going to try to see if I can't raise it a 1" or 2". I'm also going to fabricate a skid plate. I might even go with a full body skid plate to help combat the loss in aerodynamics of the lift.

there are still people in philadelphia? i thought it was like abandoned by everyone like sections of detroit and chicago where they close schools daily.......permanently. Big city liberalism will never fix your potholes, better find a rich guy to tax to fix em so the gangbangers can move back in...........To create all those police jobs and big government jobs to make more private sector jobs.........crack ho....banger....pimp...like the obama healthcare should stir up tons of new jobs just sucking state budgets down to nothing..........Face it its ugly out there and only going to get worse. You sir are at the epicenter of a mass leave the big city explosion that is happening due to the loss of jobs from this economy, and it is from multiple factors and will not turn around. Without a good tax base the city will crumble, and frankly i do wish all the big city folks do have them crumble as they seem to love to vote for for big taxes, and big government to baby sit them all. And I for one would like to see a future where america becomes america again, only we are so far in debt we will be trying to sell alaska back to russia thanks to progressiveness......And unfortuately with dumocrats using pshycologists to study how to manipulate us to vote for them and appealing to every fringe group they can appeal to as making them a part of their platform we are in for ruin most likely permanently and of course they point to repulicans as being for big business while they ignore their own cash cows...with out business there is no government!!!!!!

And then theres the media who shove liberalism and bad morals at us and tell us to accept them...they are normal.............They are o.k., I am an independent and I know its not o.k., you want other countries to tell us to reform our tax code like Putin tellin Obama hey your turning socialist with this tax the rich and obamacare....and we ignore it....because the media loves it..............Only what happens when the tax and spenders can not borrow any more money?

Why they electonically print their own, like the mass money being dumped into the housing market artifically inflating the economy right now through "quantitative easing" in other words buying bonds backed by us to help Obama look good while the press ignore it to the tune of creating a trillion in bonds a year to devalue our dollar and stoke inflation ini the future..........

Wake up america the market is gonna crash again soon, its so friggin artificially high from idiots money who are stoked by greed..............I saw the housing bubble burst and knew it was coming, anyone with intelligence knew it was coming. So now we cannot sustain the fake money printing the media ignores and sooner or later its gonna bust.....And ever notice how the price of gas never seems to ever get back to its old low price? Or the box of cereal never gets bigger?
So you want to make your car tougher....I say move from philly nothing good is gonna come from there its too close to boston....And the kennedy epicenter where one of them had a good idea and the others used it to make it all a lie and hide behind it as a name badge for what they like to petend was our greatest president and the example for us all................"Ask not what you country can do for you, but what you can do for your country!"
Which is exactly the polar opposite of what i see dumocrats now as: "ask what your country can do for you especially the white rich christian man and tax the hell out of him so you can have foodstamps, welfare, obamacare, obama phones, big government, man and animal marraiges, send money to muslim brotherhood overseas to arm them, help the EPA and tree huggers close down logging, ETC, ETC < ETC...................
Everyone who likes free money hold up your hand!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!The dumocratic moddo for thier next presidential race, point the finger at the other guy while they ruin the country and include any fringe element they can get to vote for them while they lie like crazy and the media spits it out as being the truth.

DOES AMERICA STAND A CHANCE AGAINST THE TIDE OF ILLEGAL IMMIGRATION, THE INFLUX OF ALL INCLUSIONISM OF THE DUMOCRATS AND THE DEBT FROM HELL?

STAY TUNED TO THE PHILADELPIA AREA FOR ALONG TIME TO SEE WHAT HAPPENS.....

Just had to warn you all, if those of you who havent noticed have not been told america has gone to hell and its only going to get worse before it gets better. Until people of true character can stand up and change that which has been institutionalized now by the rotten media who would have us become the most politically correct all inclusive love in ever....we are destined to go the way of sodom and gammora...or more like rome......
We will inspire hatred of ourselves in others for our lack of values.........Look to the places that preach kill america down with the us now...
Until americans realize they cannnot tax others into oblivion because you kill the golden cow and eat only once.............
That and so much more, get your camaro now...and prepare, for the end is not coming, its a long and languishing death that drags our children through the mud of the spending of what will undoubtedly be the most hated president and congress ever in history.............As they pay endlessly for programs they did not want, and spending they did not know even occurred before they were born.....

"I am mad as hell and I cannot take it anymore"...practice yelling this out your window when you hit the potholes..............Because they are not likely going anywhere.........only multiplying.........ROFL

Here in Oregon we had a gay mayor of Portland the big liberal city that sways the state to vote democrat....( he had some gay affair with a male intern and could not get impeacheded), his name is Sam Adams, anyway......He used the street money for maintenance for his leberal green ideas..like mass transit that is everywhere anyways and stuff like that...And portlands streets went to hell.....Now he is out and the next mayor has to fix the streets everyone needs........OH and they will have help from a $35 dollar per person per year if you earn over 1000$ tax in portland called the art tax liberals put in place insure artsy fartsy things go on the streets, and the left over money goes to schools thay barely can keep open as people are exodusing the big city there too and intercity has to close school after school.....
Anyway the joke here for the longest time was..........Who wants a bolttle of Sam Adams?

Smaller wheels and same size tires or larger for more sidewall. Get an airbag suspension so you can lift and drop as desired. But it is probably cheaper to buy some POS car to drive daily and only drive the camaro on good roads. I lived in philly for 4 years for college and never got a flat or bent rim. Just need to be careful when driving and memorize where all the bad potholes/manhole covers are located.
Where in philly? I lived on 13th and allegheny (think ghetto) while attending Temple School of Pharamcy.

If you can get a good lift from an airbag system you can get a better rating tire for a truck with a stronger sidewall. Since our wheelwell openings are large enough for the oem 20's this might work. Need to measure first. Go on tirerack and check out specs for oversize tires and then compare to openings.
