Lingenfelter charges $10k for the head and cam setup for 600hp/500tq. You make a compelling argument for H&C at the prices you are discussing.
Lingenfelter charges $11k for the supercharger setup 630hp/600tq...so the H/c does seem marginally cheaper. I guess, in my mind, the advantage of the SC is at the entry level, say 550rwhp (a8), the car will drive lock stock unless you get into boost and you don’t need to open the engine. With the head cam, you need to get pretty aggressive to get to the same level. However, the h/c will sound bad ass...maybe the difference comes down to what you are looking for in terms of the manners of the car as both will be pretty awesome. |

I would always go H/C vs supercharger, always, to my mind the supercharger adds weight, heat and complexity which hurts my weekend autoXer and daily driver. The reason I went with FI now is that on a M6 there are no gears and 1st gear is a long pull. If gearing was an option or shake and back storker, I am 100% sure I would stay NA. If I had an auto there is no doubt in my mind H/C and converter is the 99% solution for all your Mustang problems...

Starting from scratch stock with an A8 I can get you mid to bottom 10's for around 11K.
That includes the following: Ported Heads Cam Kit Ported MSD RF CAI Headers FF Kit Converter Drag Pack Installed and tuned What is included in the other offerings for the same price either N/A or F/I?

N/A is my preference, I had a S/C GS that made 880 rwhp on the Ricky Bobby tune and backed it down to 700 rwhp on the street, it was about all it could take on 345 DRs. My friend had a N/A 09’ Z06 that was 650-680 , he ran about the same ET but about 3-4 mph faster at the track and he was on 17” DRs!! I was on a 15” x275s. Both M6’s. His car was an absolute monster. On my street tune he would pretty much drive around me lol no comparison N/A is where it at unless you’re making a solid 100 more rwhp with boost.
This was his car on pump e85 and stock rod bolts, he went to c85 , new rod bolt and hit 680s, wish he would have kept it, the sound is intoxicating. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=uxk2m0uXe9I

How it makes power is what so many totally forget. Peak dyno numbers sell a lot of jobs and parts, that's for sure! I miss my heads cam LS days, but the raw fuel smell and surging did get old. One other advantage to superchargers is potential growth for power and the going back to stock option.
