Exclamation Broken valve spring

Have not been here for awhile. 2014 Z28 with air. 95K miles daily driver. Broken intake valve spring #6 cylinder. Just started missing real bad. No codes, no check engine light. Did not drop the valve. Changed all 16 springs JIC. Runs like new again. FYI - probably a good idea to change them at regular intervals. Cheap insurance. I had a Katech torquer cam in my 2008 Z06 with 921 springs and changed them every 25K miles. Thought these would last for the life of the LS7 but apparently not.

95k miles, you may have the highest mile z/28. Any mods to the car? Care to share how ownership has been ( guess only matters if your the original owner ) ?

The lift on the LS7 cam is pretty aggressive from the factory. Not to many see that kind of mileage though.

Broken valve spring

Daily driver, 100 miles round trip to work and back home. Car has been great. Never tracked. Headers and a tune. More fun to drive than my Z06 with 545HP at the wheels. Original owner. Never redlined. Followed the 'severe' service schedule.

95k miles! That's awesome. Good man and keep it up, these cars are meant to be driven. Hope to hear you cross the 100k mile mark in it.

I have a Lexus I'm determined to get past 250k miles, only halfway there so far

HA! Guess that answers my question on the highest mileage Z28 in the country. You have me beat by 43k miles sir! I (as far as I know now) gladly take my 2nd place in line.

Not unheard of. LS7 cam is aggressive. I've seen a few broken valve springs on higher mileage cars. My brother truck ground the came at 100k, then ran for another 150k. My little brother has the exact same truck, with 300k, no issues. We are a family that spins LS engines until they physically will not crank. Like anything in high production, sometimes a bad apple does not run its full LC.

In other news, this is still the coolest thread I have read on here in a really long time. 95k miles.

94K - that is how it should be! A car that is enjoyed everyday. glad to hear it is back up and running for you.

Would be interested to know if you are still on your original rotors and how many sets of pads you have been through in 94K?

Thanks for posting.

90,000 miles and the valve guides are still in order. Makes you want to show all of the naysayers that say it needs to be addressed asap.

just because it hasn't dropped a valve doesn't mean the valves/guides are in spec. I'm curious to why the z/28 community thinks this isn't a issue? once my warranty is up, 1/2020 ill be pulling my heads to check. I hope your right.
