I'm not sure that DFW cops care, I see cars w/o the front plate all the time, from Aveos to Mercedes. Didn't have it on the Camaro and don't have it on the Charger. They'll force me to put one on over my dead body.

indeed, was pulled over by DPS last year, about 3 months after i bought it. They said they were cracking down on it, and it couldnt even be in the windshield. It had to be on the front most part of the car. I zip tied mine on the front, bump those holes.

I was going to leave mine off until I got pulled over for not having it on. Well...that lasted barely 3 months into ownership. So, I put on my personal plates.

I got my car in Texas and lived there till March 2010, I got pulled over 1 time for the plate, got a warning. Every other time I got pulled over for whatever they wanted, just to check out my car a few times they harassed me about my front plate. Never had to pay $ for a front plate but I am military, that may of helped.

If i was getting pulled over or something I would take my plate and put it in my windshield in front of my passenger and they would look at it and not say anything. I keep it in the poutch behide the passenger seat.

I almost hate to comment for fear of jinxing myself, but 16 months and counting for me w/o being pulled over.

Three warnings by DPS and one by county all in about two weeks. Now I just suction cup it to the from windshield when I am on the road, no more problems.

Anyone thought about getting the hide-a-way plate with remote or is it janky.

I have been pulled over twice, both times driving from here in Lubbock to Fort Worth for reserve duty. I told them the front plate bracket was on back order and was waiting for it. I received only verbal warning both times. I started putting plate in windshield with suction cups when running around town and placed a bracket that attaches under the front fascia for when I drive out of town. Takes me five minutes to put on before leaving and taking off when I get home from the weekend away. I don't want to keep getting pulled over just for not having a front plate mounted by the DPS. I can understand pulling me over for speeding or other moving violation but not just because I don't have a plate!
