Shorties = Little to no gain/no tune... Little bit of sound
LT = some gains, more with a tune, good bit of sound. |

You're backwards on the CEL. He'd be fine with shorties, hi flow cats and no tune. He may get the CEL with LTs and no tune. Jury is still out on whether shorties are worth anything. Go long or save your money! |

i have to say that 1 7/8" x 3" long tube headers w/cats is the way to go with BIG gains in hp & tq , its the best mod for the money . gives you about 35 or 40 hp with a tune. nothing else gives you that kind of power + great sound for the money spent.

I would not waste my money on shortys but they seem to be very popular for the C5 and I'm not sure why?

I think he's stating that shorties AND HF's are hit or miss on the CEL, when not tuned. As most here know, that's a function of the HF cats and not the shorties. OP: If you're wanting power gains from shorties, you're not going to be happy with what you get. If you want looks and a different sound, they may be for you. The HP gains from the shorty/HF's are almost completely in the HF's. We have members reporting 15-25whp gains from the HF's alone. Many of those are with the stock manifolds. Several have not had problems with CEL's but several have. It's not a gaurantee that you won't throw cat codes. If you're not against getting a tune, DEFINITELY go with the LT's/HF's. They will give you the best gains, along with better looks and a different sound. Notice I didn't say BETTER sound. Sound is purely subjective. The choice is yours, just know what you're getting.
