Mike, thanks for making a return appearance! I had hoped to meet you at 13 Mile at Woodward, but "the best laid plans"...weren't...
You should be aware we are very pleased with the LPE L28's results at Pahrump, first go 'round. I'm sure the promise potential of this badass brute in ballerina slippers will be fully realized, soon. Please keep us apprised... As to the near-600 rwhp...yowsa!! The old "Hot Rodder's Axiom" comes to mind: "If some is GOOD, and more is BETTER, then too much is JUST RIGHT!" |

That is almost, if not, 700HP at the motor

Well, I know that is what was originially posted, but not to generate 593 to the rear tires, that would only be about a 12 to 13% loss.....

The "final" tune would be done based on the chassis dyno results/feedback...

My understanding is the weight is about twice the amount of the aluminum block. So, an added 100lbs. block.
Well, at the very least "hold up" to "some boost" with some kind of reliability. Everyone knows, there are "no guarntees" with a motor NOT built for boost; Only luck of the draw, diminished value (can only use 20% of your SC investment, without other engine mods), and a matter of time when the LS3 will fail under boost. To each their own. Not everybody will want a NA 500hp. Z/28's, just like not everyone wants an NA SS, and not everyonoe will settle for a 550hp. ZL1. Regardless, NA or not; It's best to start with a "foundation" that will be great for high compression NA builds or lower compression FI applications and won't break under pressure. Don't you recommend proper foundation for suspension? Why not the motor? That's the whole purpose of the "iron" LSX motor (proper foundation for high HP / TQ applications). Isn't that worth the 100lbs. which is diminished by the potential for huge power gains? A good un-educated decision. By, far the LSX block is much more superior than the LS7 block. It was based on the C5R engine. If you know what that is I'm sure you'd change your mind. Last edited by calbert1999; 11-17-2011 at 12:57 PM. |

Thanks for the kind words. We are pretty happy with our "out of the box" performance. As Pete has stated, there is a lot of performance left. We will continue to develop the package, and are working on the plan right now.
The changes we are going to make are really minor. More of them will be tweaks to the current package, not changing parts. The components we used to create the package are all very sound and work well togeather. We were not even able to test different tire pressures, or shock settings. The car is that fast, and that green. Sorry we were not able to meet at Woodward. There is always this year. Or, maybe at Camaro5 III in Indy. We plan to be there, along with the L / 28. Of course, by then there could be a whole group of L / 28's in attendance. |

And for the record ... the LS7 is also based on the C5R engine

Mike,
I think the L/28 should gio back on the dyno. Now that everything has been run in a bit I'll bet dollars to donuts it is a clean 600 to the rear wheels. |

And, exactly why there's room for a ZL1 and a Z28. |

BTW, if I just plain HAVE to put stupid-ridiculous power 'tween my front tires on my Jenny Craig-graduating, 'Ring-conquerring ZEE, I'd likely find myself pesterin' these folks for a block...
