Bird lovers HELP - bird vs Camaros!

Okay, what is the deal with female cardinals waging war on car rear view mirrors? This happened to my mother's car a few years ago but now there is one in my neighborhood. Initially, she (cardinal) seemed to prefer Mike's Crossfire, but now she is also going after both of our Camaros, one neighbor's Mustang & another neighbor's cars too. Mike was covering the Crossfire's mirrors with soft tee shirt material & that seemed to work but now we need to cover 6 mirrors I thought she was just looking at the "bird in the mirror" & leaving her droppings behind. But today we watched her & she is siting on the car roof & diving down attacking the mirrors hitting them hard. This poor bird is going to give herself a concussion. Do any bird lovers on here have any insignt into this weird bird behavior? Is there any cure for this bizzare bird mental illness? She has already put several scratches on our cars. Grrrrrrrrrrrrr. I tried to get pics but even with my zoom could not get a good one. The final solution will be when we finally get our garage built. Does anyone have any other suggestions short of permanently ridding the neighborhood of this menace?

I've heard of storks, or whatever the hell those birds are that you see in cow pastures, actually breaking the glass out of car mirrors.

Best solution I've seen is to fold the mirrors in, but since our car mirrors aren't the folding type...

The poor Cardinal is trying to attack another Cardinal!! It doesn't know it's own reflection in the mirror!! Very common with birds!! Same thing happens with house windows!! Birds have died from doing this!!

Have you tried car covers? Maybe it is the reflection.

Put socks over your mirrors.

Go to Toys R Us and buy some rubber snakes, if you leave then on the car it will scare the birds away, sounds crazy but it will work. Birds are scared of snakes.

I had a issue with a cat walking all over my car. I love cats, they taste like chicken.

Luckily I don't have bird problems here, but that means I have no advice.

I like the sound of the rubber snakes. They can double for a tool to freak out the young neighbor kids that get too close too.
