Dedicated Track Car

I'm thinking about getting another 1LE to turn into a dedicated track car.

If I get it I will gut the car, replace the glass with lexan and upgrade the suspension.

My question is who should I talk to about the suspension?

Thanks
Craig

JDP would be great. Jpss (JusticePete) is closed so they - JDP - are also a great resource...

I used both on mine...

I'm leaning that way with my '13 1LE.

I've got MCS double adjustable (non-remote) on the way to replace the Ridetech HQ. Ordered the MCS through Vorshlag. As a backup option I've got z/28 suspension I can use.

Next I need to figure out the cage and seats I want to use. I'll probably go with a local shop here in Austin - Winding Road - to help me get that sorted out.

I need to run the brake ducting I bought - no real easy way to do it on the '13, but you should add that to your list - overheated brakes on these Gen 5 systems is no good. I've done the cheap brake upgrade with ZL1 rotors and calipers. Hopefully that will serve up to a point. Might have to go aftermarket next season with how hard I use them. We'll see how well the ducting works out - I need to find a spindle duct receiver to force as much air as possible on the rotor.

Also on my list is to add some sort of baffle to the oil pan. Something like this http://www.improvedracing.com/oil-pa...ffle-p-41.html

AIM DL 2 also...the shopping list is pretty expensive lol.

I have the ZL1 up grade on my street/track 1LE. I was thinking that would work on a dedicated track car as well. I like having the option of using stock brake pads if I am in a pinch.

I had forgotten about Vorshlag. I'll check them out.

Not many good shops up in my area. Wish I was in TX seems like there are lots of good shops there.

Vorshlag are good people, Terry races in time trial quite a lot. They had one customer / project gen 5 Camaro that they did quite a bit with so they have some good knowledge based on that.

Maybe Phoenix over in PA?

Best suggestion I can make is to get in touch with NickyRacerBoy over on Camaro6. Car was running under 1:12 on NJMP/Lightning and I think in the low 1:30's on Thunderbolt, and now it's in the shop to get serious.

Link.

When I asked Terry about them he had wanted to throw MCS on the customer 1LE they had done some basic work to. I wonder if you're the first to run em. I had been looking at the same 2WNR to replace the Z28 kit I have now.

I'm also looking at the improved racing baffle but was going to supplement with an accusump. I'm going to run 335's so I'm going to need all the oil help I can get lol

I think that car was already running pretty decent Bilstein coilovers.

No idea if my Camaro would be the first on MCS, but I very much doubt it - lots of folks track and race Camaro's that don't go online to talk about it.

Probably overkill for me currently, but I have a history of wasting money on meh parts so I wanted to do stop that with suspension and get something I can use at many levels.

Good idea on the baffle + accusump.

I'm only running 305's for now, not sure how to fit 335s in the front!

I can say that I have been very happy with the MCS 2wnr on my 13 ZL1. Texas Track Works in Fort Worth did my work and spent lots of time helping to dial in the settings on track.
