I have noticed a unusual smell off and on.I attribute it to a faint smell of rear axle or tranny fluid(used) type of odor.Actually smells just like the same oil I use in the lower unit of my outboard motor every year, which is 90 wt. hypoid oil which is the same as the old 4 speed gear box fill.Really think it is the same smell, used it a lot in the good old days,60s ?

new cars always have weird smells in the beginning. Burning/melting plastic. (or rubber)

It's normal. It's happened in every new car my family and others have owned.

Mine smells like fresh Zaino Leather Conditioner

Probably not the greatest thing in the world for your lungs to breathe in however.

When I first got mine, there was a strange adhesive type smell. It only lasted about a week.

The closest I can describe is this ... you know when you cut a piece of plastic, you get that very specific heated plastic smell? It's kinda like that ... but not.
But it's ALL THE TIME, not just after it's been run ... if the car is closed up and not used all day and you get in it, it's there ... as soon as you open the door.
My wife and I have had a number of new cars over the years ... and God knows I've been in thousands of used/abused/junk cars over the years ... and I've never smelled this smell before ...
I guess I'll just hope it fades away with time ...
make love in it!..drive it out!

I get the same thing only 700 miles noticed it after maybe 400 miles. I don't see any leaks of oil or tranny fluid. It does have me concerned.
Could this be something to do with what I have been reading on the forumns about oil sepertaor or catch cans.

Its just the parts stickers, and lube on the exhaust from bending burning off. It will go away. Turn you climate control to recurc for a while and run her hard to burn it off lol

It could be the "undercoating" burning off hot engine parts under the car but it goes away after a hand full of runs.

I've noticed a smell, nothing constant, but distinctly noticable when it happens. I think it is just carbon or something, because if I've been casual driving, and then something happens and I puch it for a short second or something, I get a unusual smell. Like I said, I'm sure it is something with carbon build up or whatever, but it is weird. (2SS, leather interior, 6600 miles, no engine cover)
