Coked up floormat

I have Lloyd embroidered floor mats. The other day an entire Coke was dumped on my floormat. I toweled it off best I could but it got soaked. I used soap suds to try and clean it but how do I get the sticky Coke out of the deep part of the pile and not just off the top? The cleaning instructions that came with the mats say not to soak the mat with water! I emailed Lloyd's and they just sent me a copy of the cleaning instructions that I already had, not really answering my question. How do I really clean it deep down if I can't get it soaking wet?

I'd go with the steam approach too.
Maybe use a rental carpet shampooer or one of those brush-and-bottle things (like this: )

I've used the Carbona thing on my mats and it doesn't soak them, but it does get pretty deep into the pile.
If that, or none of the future suggestions work, soak it anyway. It's already ruined otherwise, so what do you have to lose?

The second line of defense is not to drink in the car.

I'm not sure why you can't soak the mat. I bought Lloyd's mats for my mom's Caddy. They were filthy after this winter so I vacuumed them well, sprayed the hell out of them with carpet cleaner, I think it was Stoners, and then I remember also using a stiff brush and soapy water from washing the car. I then hosed them off and I mean they were soaked. I left them to drip dry in the sun though I could nto put them back in the car until the next day. There have been no issues since.

I DON'T drink in my car. I do go through drive-through windows to get takeout that I eat and drink at home. The lid popped off and the sides of the flimsy cup collapsed when it was handed to me. Dude, I am sorry... not trying to sound snarky...I was and still am miffed about the situation.
I too don't understand why they say not to soak the mat. Hell, I even went to the source and they just sent me the same instructions that I already had. I don't know anything about steam cleaning.... maybe I'll just do as you did and soak them (against manufacturers advice...ooh what a rebel I am!) and just lay 'em flat and let 'em air out till dry.
scandata, is that carbona stuff hard to find? Did it do a good job? thanks..

Not hard to find at all. I bought it at a grocery store for about $6.00. It does a good job picking up stains. My floor mats are black with a light grey embroidered Camaro logo, and after a while the logo gets to be a dark, smudgy grey from my shoes. The Carbona cleans that up well. I also have grey carpet on my lanai that my cats throw up on now and then, and it removes those stains too.

Actually, that would be the first line of defense.

No snarkiness detected. The mats came out very nice when I was done. I wouldn't soak them on a weekly or a monthly basis but after a long shitty winter it isn't so bad. I would do it again. Then I sprayed the shit out of them with Scotchguard.

I bought a grubby pair of these used here on C5 for cheap. I soaked them to clean them up, will no ill effects, so far as I can tell.
