I want to add that I use lighthouseleds.com and they are great. I was halfway through a project and realized I didn't have enough LEDs and they went out of their way to overnight them to me. AND they're cheaper than Oznuim.

Cool! Good to know! Thanks for posting about them. I'd never heard of them before.

Someone had asked me for help on removing the needles one night while I was at work...so I only had access to a few plastic spoons and my sonic cup...glad to see you're coming along...

It's a PITA, but just put some solder down on the pads and get one side on there, then get some on the other side and run it upwards to drag it to the top of the led pad, then put your tweezers on top and press down slightly as you go quickly from one side to the other back and forth a few times and it will seat and have a good amount of solder for a solid connection. ..

Thanks buddy. I'm getting there but it is definitely a PITA, LOL. Do you use flux to help the process? I started using it later on in the process so I'm not sure if it's the flux or just time on the iron that is helping.

Thanks again for the tips and help. I can't wait to see it all finished.

Definitely use ample flux (and clean it well with alcohol afterward), definitely don't use a lot of time on the iron.

Keep it up, it'll all be worth it when you plug it in the dash and see it glow!

and yes, they are all the PLCC-2 type LEDs.

Thank you for this picture!

I never use flux because the silver bearing solder I use has flux built in...I never have any flow issues with my solder...

I guess I should have said "If you're having problems with the solder flowing then definitely use ample flux".
All the solder I've ever used has been flux-cored, but depending on the conditions and the components, sometimes it just doesn't want to wet or flow properly without additional flux. If it flows and wets as it should with the flux core then there's no problem.

DIY Change LEDs in Speed/Tach Gauge

TADA! I changed my blinker indicators, MPH & RPM to red. On top of everything else of course.

I'll be posting a map of sorts to every LED on the board for future reference. In the next day or 2.

Anyone do a MyLink unit yet? I'm about to have one and definitely don't want any blue in there.
