Shindos install
I wanted to give everyone a look at my install I did.I am not a pro so be nice. I had some things sitting in my basement for a few years now so I decided to put it to good use.
I first installed a set of Alpine 6.5 typeR components in the front doors. I had a mounting plate that came with the speakers that I utilized. I also order a 1'' spacer from Parts Express. I also had a plexi ring that I put leds in that glow through the doors. The ring and spacer put the speaker in the right position in the door. In the trunk I added a perfect fit enclosure with a JL audio 10w6. I also added leds to the sub. On the drivers side I made a Mdf plate to mount the Alpine 5 channel amp along with a 1farad cap,a Rockford Fosgate threesixty.1 processor and a multi function remote for the leds. This is just a temp system.I will be making some upgrades as I see fit. I hope you all like it.

You would not believe it but I used furnace duct wrap. It's only $15 a role at a local hardware store. I know all the dynamat peeps are going to beat up on me but this stuff really did work. It has a self adhesive back, easy to form and is very light. I plan on upgrading my speakers in the doors and rear deck with some smoother sounding components (alpines are very bright). I will use the same in the doors and deck. For now I just have a 6'' foam pod behind my door speakers.

I've had this equipment since 2003 (except the sub) and still the dam plastic on the amp. This was installed in a 2001 tahoe complete 5.1 surround and taken out in 07.
(Tahoe) If you notice I removed the onstar and added a center speaker and molded a TV inplace of the cassette. This thing really rocked with 5.1 dolby digital sound. Oh ya I didn't miss any Packers games ether. So the Camaro is still a work in progress.

I like the install, and the use of the plexi is awesome. Are you using the Alpine tweeters and midrange in the doors?

Yes I have the SPR 17LS components in the doors stock location. I may switch them to a different set . I have some tweaking to do with the 3sixty before I make that decision.

I think I already asked you... but how did you wire up the leds? I had something similar in a civic a while back, but it wasn't as advanced as this car so I don't know where to tap into. Is it switched or did you wire it into an accessory function?
Oh, and awesome use of the plexi, my old civic lighting looked good without it, but yours ROCKS! One of the best lighting set-ups I've seen! |
