I've been through this before with a gm rep. Got no where. All I was told was that the dealership can't replace the peice until a permanent fix is available, and that gm would keep my case on file. I appreciate the help though, I just don't want to waste either of our time.

I can still set up a case with GM customer service in order to document the concern if you would like.

Do NOT let your dealer pull out yor entire dash. It will never be the same and you will develop rattles

I went to my dealer, he ordered me another leather insert panel. See photo below of screws under your strip above the leather to remove the leather panel. I'll replace it myself, i don't need the mechanics trying to be interior trim specialists. Cheers!
I know I'm late to this party but I had the same issue too. The dealer said they ordered the part and once it was in I brought my car in to get it replaced. I figured they would have known it was just an insert after they looked it over. Well... They call me the next day and tell me that they ordered the wrong part and to come get my car.
I found out that they pulled my whole dash out before realizing that it was the wrong part... Needless to say I got my car back and the dash doesn't rattle, but it's not alligned properly like it was before I brought it in, the middle speaker cover is bent a bit and they scratched up the area right below the radio... I feel that this part being a separate piece would have been obvious considering they are the master mechanics but whatever. I cant do anything about it now. Needless to say I got over it and the dash insert is fixed but I feel like the dealerships should know more about the cars that they sale... Hell, the guy that sold the car to me didn't believe me when I told him that the 2012 had locks on the doors... Although it's a salesman so that's a little different.

Does this problem also exist on the 2013 models?

Only time will tell. Some 2012's haven't shown the problem yet. Mine took several months in the summer heat.

You guys need to get you some Huper Optic Nano Fusion Ceramic window tint. It keeps the heat & uv rays out. They even have a clear one for the windshield that still keeps out the heat & UV. It is expensive but well worth it to protect your interior. No, It can't undo damage done, but protect from further damage & protect whatever repairs you have done. Just my 2 cents. I love mine.

Wouldn't make a lot of difference with a convertible.

Tints are great for protecting the interior, but some people in this thread have the bubbling issue with very minimal exposure to sunlight or heat. One person keeps his car in the garage at home and also has garage parking at work. I'm sure heat accelerates the bubbling, but it's happening even with cars that stay relatively cool throughout the day. I'm close to purchasing my very first Camaro, a 2013 SS. Having just found out about this issue and another thread about cracking dashboards, I'm seriously reconsidering my decision.

Well the bubble on mine is hardly noticeable unless you happen to run your fingers over it and see the bulge. I am sure they will find a fix for it. As for the dashboard cracking I haven't seen that issue.
