Hmm...I'm in Hawaii and now I'm not so sure because I"m thinking the rain may have a bit of salt in it from the ocean. If that's what's going to be dropping onto my engine I'll wait until I move somewhere with normal rain.

Here, for your consideration, is a lovely woman from Adam's Polishes taking a hose to the engine compartment.

This is 2017. All those parts that require it to be dry are now covered and sealed enough to withstand washing. Nothing bad happens.

OMG.

I changed to a CF vent. I reinstalled the guard. Of course, I wax the paint under the hood. The guard dumps it forward so in a way, it still gets wet under there. Just not on the intake area.

All the under hood connections are tested and water tight to something like 12 meters. It is not an issue.

Water evaoprates, solutes such as sodium chloride are left behind, thus the oceans increase in salinity over time. Right now the oceans average 3.5% salinity or 35ppt; 35g of salt for every 1000g of seawater.
What you should be worried about is pH. The weighted mean for the pH of rainwater (precipitation) in the United States is 4.9.

Ok...so does that mean I should be more worried about water from my spigot?

A 4,000 lb vehicle with 400hp has 400 hp.

If you drop 100 pounds off of that vehicle and do nothing else it still has 400hp. :P
