It's possible that the new Z does get a new NA motor, the ZL1 got a 10 speed trans before the Corvette did so it doesn't appear they are limiting tech to the Corvette anymore.

The new "Z/28" looks to be getting more downforce than a Z07 optioned Z06, what else will it be getting? There is no reason the top level Z07 couldn't have had an adjustable full wing instead if a spoiler if they wanted to make it more track focused. That's one reason I think (hope) the Z/28 motor may be more track focused than the LT4. I don't think they would go through the trouble of a low volume extreme track car and supercharge it. Realizing these HP levels are increasingly difficult with govt requirements, does that really matter with an ultra low volume car?

Or alternatively this is just a "ZL1-R". This team won't dilute the Z/28 name.

If anything, a new naturally aspirated engine in a track focused Corvette would've been the Z06 and the LT4 model the ZR1. But that's no longer the case.

The C7 Grand Sport is much more than the C6. It is leaning much more towards performance and not only appearance. If available additional HP (in NA form) would have made it a real Porsche killer.

I think a Top Dog Corvette is soon to take the place of the ZR1. Both Camaro and Corvette are continuing to move upwards performance wise.

The C6 GS is just as performance oriented as its C7 successor. It got upgraded brakes, suspension, wheels, and tires not just a wide body. I forget the exact details, but it was essentially a Z06 with a steel frame & an LS3

It also had the hand built LS3 with dry sump. Supposedly making a bit more HP due to the hand built part.

I guess I'm considering the addition of the Z07 option (handling is of most importance to me).

There was no Z07 package when the C6 GS was introduced ...

The C6 Grand Sport, which was put together from the Z06 parts bin, is more appearance oriented & less performance oriented because it didn't make use of an option package that did not exist & therefore could not have used when the C6 GS was created? Does that sound right to you?

No the C7's GS having the Z07 option has turned me to the GS. I never looked that closely at the C6 GS due to the standard chassis. Therefore it never appeared near the Z06. Just recently (before the C7 GS announcement) I was very close to buying a C7 Z06/7, but the supercharger was holding me back, then the C7 GS/Z07.
