Questions kinda tough to answer considering idk where you’re located. I’m a stones throw away from Speed. Some guys like em, some guys don’t, some guys are meh. Are they good at what they do, sure, just not for me. I just remember when I asked for a cam quote on my G8 they were 700-1000$ more than everyone one else, same scenario for my C6 Z06 build.

Where are you located?

Swap lifters and put in a set of bronze rocker bushings if you are just looking for things to do while in there.

I also installed a CHE trunnion kit, BTR dual springs push rods, new valve seals, 3 bolt cam gear but I assume most if not all of that is coming with your "kit".

These lifters just for peace of mind (better than LS7 lifters)

https://www.thompsonmotorsports.net/...ry&path=63_159

The CHE bronze rocker bushing swap is very nice and significantly quieted my valve train...

Just curious what is different about these lifters? On the link it says the internals are the same as LS7 lifters.

You should email Tony from Speed, and see what he says. I’m sure he will mention everything we mentioned.

What made you choose Speed? No local shops?

TMS has some awesome lifters made in the US by Eaton with the same dimensions as the LS7 to make them drop in ready, Just better parts and tolerances.

They are not he same lifter GM LS7 or Delphi LS7. They keep the GM and Eaton in the sales office so you can hold them side by side. There is a difference even in appearance and finish work as well as the components like c-clips for the axle rather than a pressed axle. They are the same dimension to be drop in, The similarities end there.

Trying to get all the little things together now so i don't forget when it's time. Ordered a GM Cam Retainer Plate a couple hours ago, was only $15 on Amazon and would rather just have it for the install in case my old ones gasket looks bad when it comes off. Ordered a cheap spring compressor. I already have a compressor hose/fitting to keep the valves up that is in my compression tester kit I can use.

GPI hasn't shipped my stuff yet, I assume since I ordered the 8620 hardened core cam. I don't know if they grind those to order or just keep em stocked. If I remember correctly they get their cams from CamMotion?

For the lifters, does anyone know what size wooden dowels I should get? I will make a run to Home Depot tomorrow to pick them up. This engine only has 1400 miles on it since the rebuild so I am just going to continue using the current LS7 lifters. I am still running the high zinc oil my engine builder told me to use, Valvoline VR1 Racing 10w30 (conventional). He told me to switch to synthetic at 1500-2000 miles, but now that I am upgrading the cam I will likely continue to run this for break in, but I will ask Ryan from GPI his thoughts. The VR1 is like 1400 ppm I think and is used frequently as a break in oil.

BIGNASST. not trying to hijack your thread. Hopefully some of the questions and stuff I am asking will help you out too lol.

I've been emailing Tony D for about 3 weeks and he has been helpful, but I am trying to get as much information on here ,then I'm asking him , and I don't know what to ask for or why . I'm sure I could just drop it off and they'd get it done, then weeks down the road I'll learn I should have done this or done that while they were in there. You guys are very helpful. Nobody close I would trust . One shop 30 miles away is supposed to be the best around hes been booked up for months. Another shop is hiring people now ( no experience) its either Demoines is 300 plus miles or speed inc 180miles . They need it 3 days so I have to drive up have someone follow drop it,come back ,then get dropped off comeback. Not to crazy about that.Wish I had the confidence to get in there and do it

24" long 5/16" dowels. You don't need to use compressed air to keep the valves up. Pistons at TDC hold them up, they can only drop about 1/8". I followed this thread https://www.camaro5.com/forums/showthread.php?t=125123
