^^Excellent post

If the ZL1 had been around 580 or 590 to the tire, I'd say things were looking much closer. At a tick under 550, and then power dropping by quite a bit above 6,000 RPM on runs 2 and 3, I'm not thinking so. It is still early, and I do agree we need to see what these things can do on the track and I look forward to those results. Although I'm sure if the times aren't that great there'll be all kinds of reasons from driver error to track prep.

The Hellcat makes 620RWHP on most dynos and that number doesn't change much at all over 3 dyno runs. These HP figures are backed up on the track and I've personally watched them run high 10s over and over and over and heat never seems to bother them. I was very surprised to be honest and that's what impresses me about the car. If the ZL1 does similar, it will be just as impressive.

On a road course, ZL1 all day long, no argument there from me at all.

Is it going against the 4 door Prius?

Once the HC has three or more back to backs (within about 45 minutes) it tends to heat soak and slow down a few tenths. 2-3 etc.

I put on ChallengerFest (big drag race and car show) every April in Bowling Green, KY at Beech Bend Raceway and lots of Hellcats show up obviously. Street tire guys are all over the place, but most run DRs and are very consistent. Even the 6 speed cars have been surprisingly consistent. I've not seen much difference at all in 3 or 4 back to back runs. We run a few race classes and there is no cool down time.

Dodge is quoted as requiring 50 back to back passes at max performance without any performance degradation to pass required performance testing, and 20 minute sessions on a road course with the same requirement.

I can prove that to be false in one trip to the track. Maybe it's just California air. Lol
My friend who owns a 2016 HC runs 6.90's his first two passes but that begins to slow to 7.10's to 7.20's thereafter. He is a very seasoned drag racer who has owned many quick cars over time. If the ZL1 proves itself he would likely own it and sell his HC.

How different is the gearing between the A10 in the ZL1 and the A9 in the HC? I know the Corvette gained near zero going from A6 to A8, and the A8 is geared nearly identical to the A10. Only difference is a new gear in the 120 range, and an additional overdrive.

Sorry but I think we need to throw out these hero runs unless they were verified or tested by an independent reviewer. Not coming clean about mods or weight reduction is done everyday on the street, strip, and forums. It's way too easy to hide mods and claim to be stock.

Have same 2 cars as you. B5Blue HC and 2SSHyper blue Canaro I have had 3ZR1s and all of them suffered big time with heat soak problems. The HC seems to have almost zero problems with heat. People who live in California have unique problems because the are professional problems...now that's funny.

11.2@127 is the bone stock down to the crap goodyears record for the GT500. No mods or weight reduction. The run was at a nice cool day at atco. No internet BS since I'm the one who ran the time.

There is a stock Hellcat that dyno'd on the same dyno (Dynojet 248) I use and it did 648 rwhp. Mine did 511 rwhp bone stock (right off the street) on the same dyno. There is another local HC that did 670 rwhp but on a different dyno. I've seen them up close and Dodge did a great job with the cooling on the HC. I was hoping the 17 ZL1 would dyno in the 580 rwhp range, but I think the A10 will really help it at the track.
