Lightbulb I Changed My Mind On My ZL1

Team,
Well I had a very happy day today.
I went down to the dealership to see the ABM SS/RS that was down there on trade in. Well it turns out I have actually had this color before in years prior.
Looking at ABM very close, I realized even though I wanted my ZL1 to be this color. (i know they discontinued ABM) This ABM is 98.9% as close to other camaros I painted in yester years. I painted a 1968 camaro 1982 Corvette Blue Bright Blue Metallic back in the mid 80's. I also painted a 92 RS this color in early 2000. The paint has called many different code names and paint descriptions. Also 1985/86 Iroc Blue, or Bright Blue Metallic.
It is like I said 98.9% the same or right on the money. I have had this color before. Know that being said, I don't wanna paint my ZL1 ABM after all. And since its not a continuation color, im gonna give up on the idea basically as I have had this color twice in years past. Very stunning, but I don't have to have it.

Then another thing happened. They had a 2010 also in victory red they had taken in. This sweet ride has ONLY 1400 miles on her. She is BRAND new.
Looks like the car was just clay bared. I had seen victory red so far and to me it has been "so" "so" with me. My choice since the ABM has been IOM.
I looked and looked back and forth, back and forth between both the ABM, the IOM, and the Victory Red. Here is what I discovered. I love the Orange.
BUT. There is something about the black on top of the red that makes the red simply "POP" if you know what I am saying. It is a killer combination.
I have had red camaros in the past. Quite a few in fact and I was simply bored with the red and did not want another red. It has been 14 years since I have had a red and black camaro though. I have discovered that I do not think the Orange and the Flat black are going to "POP" like the Red and Black do though. The IOM and Flat black is going to look nice however, its just not gonna take it over the edge. Maybe this is why the first ZL1 prototype at Chicago was red and black? It simply pops when it is cleaned up and detailed.
I revived something in me today. My first camaro was Red and Black.
This ZL1 I have decided is going to be changed from IOM to Victory red with black stripes. The only way I wont change it to red is if they drop VR altogether when they bring in the new and improved crystal red. (whatever the name is ) I made a change! I know I am going to be happy tickled shit pink that I did.

I made one more change. I decided that there are going to be times when I want a drink of soda, or a trip to Jack n the Box. I don't wanna worry about having not to eat or snack in the car. That is a terrible feeling if you can't fully enjoy the car when you take it for a spin. I wanna have a beverage if I get hot and need a drink. I also don't wanna have to worry if I spill a drink or bave a boo boo on the suede interior. i don't wanna have to worry about having a window cracked open during a texas spring shower. They pop up all the time around here. Don't wanna worry about getting a drop of water on the interior I might not be able to wipe off and get the spot completely out.
While I plan on keeping my ZL1 meticulous, I don't wanna have to worry about boo boos. They do happen, even with adults!
I wanna be able to take a dry cloth, wipe it off and go on with my own business not having to wonder..."dam.. I know I can see that spot still there but can others?" Know what I mean?

Getting the Zl1 now in leather option only. No suede for me. If the seat inserts are automatically suede, no worries as I would normally be tempted to spill a drink on the shifter boot area, or get the suede wheel nasty anyway. If I can order the car with no suede whatsoever, that is my plan, plus it should lower the cost of the car anyway somewhat.
On the subject of sunroof. My melon hit the roof every time!
Even after adjusting the seat! Dealer was kind and let me start the car, and play with the roof and open it and close it, and open it and close it to make 110% dang sure I don't want an optional sunroof. Sure, it is nice but I can live life without it.

So. Victory Red, No Sun roof, and No Suede for me.
Do I have my 6 digit number yet?

Damnation, you've done a lot of research! LOL

It's best to know exactly what you want, though.

Better change your signature and avatar info. It still indicates IOM.

neh... I realized when I walked up to the ABM, its really the same color I painted one of my 68 camaros. Its beautiful, don't get me wrong, but it is old hat. Been there done that, time to do something different.
Besides...Once I get this ZL1 bought and paid for the search goes on for a 1968 RS convertible. Plans are to paint it Stryker Blue Metallic...
Very similar to ABM. No need of having two blue camaros!
I am not going to worry about price until after my vin number arrives. Ill take it up with my finance company at that time. Not a whole lot a I can do about it to change (whatever GM says the base price is gonna be) so I just need to learn it is something I cannot change and go on with it.
I have the wisdom to know the difference, and this is not anything that I have any control over (pricing) so I am gonna get my car built and take it up with my finance company in Mid jan to Mid feb or late march.
Not even gonna worry about it then, as its in God's hands now and the truth about it is since it is in God's hands I need to just quit trusting in myself and quit getting myself upset about these things as there is really nothing that can be done about it so why worry about something that we have absolute no control over at all? I just let myself get worked up over pricing in the last few days so basically it was time wasted when I could be doing more research on Bruce. Not pricing research...
You know...the FUN STUFF!
I like having people as you around to encourage me when I am down.
It goes along way.
Ok, that being said... Price is outta my way... what else can I research?
Yea, I know I need to change my avatar and sig...not a biggie there...
But lets see.. hum..... Next big thing I guess would be allocation....
Can't do a whole lot there either I don't think?
hmmm... so what are the next big important events we have coming?
Allocation dates are 28th, 29th... that is three weeks away...
Dang.. Three whole weeks!!
hmmm... we can tread a lot of ground on here in three weeks...
Ok... NOW is the time...
I need to get that ZL1 registry built.. So I can work on that...
I can't think of anything else actually... Can yall think of anything that yall are going to be researching, etc?

Wait till you see it in Crystal Red Claret !!! Then you will change your mind again. See if that dealership has a Chevy Cruze or other car in Crystal Red and park it next to the Victory Red car and see what I mean.

^There ya go!!! Nice to hear you're back on your feet. I know the feelin'. The potential cost can get you in the gut.....but there are ways around it.....lol....like having more money.

I just didn't want any silly mustang or used camaro taking the place of "Bruce".

Besides.....you never know. Chevy could surprise us by making it slightly less than the $57.5 rumor. We'll see.....

Anyways...you've got to take some really good shots of the zl1 when you finally get it!

I didnt know leather seats was even considered as a potential option. I thought they were all suede seat insets with optional suede steering wheel and shifter? If leather seats are an option, that would be awesome. I also like your choice on color with no sun roof and yes on the black stripe. What rims? Polished or SSX?

I appreciate your encouragement.
I am too far into this to get hung up on pricing this early. I am all ready all my ducks are in a row as of today. "BRUCE" will be born...and he will be "MINE"
I have already worked up some photos of "BRUCE LEE" that I am going to get Hazman to do me some photoshops when I get Bruce.
Ought to be cool!
Im passed the pricing debate/war...Time to let it bother other people!
Chin up!
Ill be back on here in the am trying to give others a "boost" so they can reach and get they're ZL1.
I may get that site started tomorrow. Not sure but ill let yall know.
Will be a new venture for me. I am used to making car forums such as C5, so a registry site will be a new project for me as ill have to figure out if I want it simple or complicated with data bases. Might help me keep from pulling my hair out when I am on C5!

I may get stuck with the inserts as they may be standard. But I am fairly sure the dash, steering, and shifter boot is optional.
Well, if this price thing do not get out of control I am toying with the idea of buying both sets of "shoes." When I drive him around town he will proudly wear his polished optional rims, and then when I want to really "show off" at the local sat night cruise in I might put on his trade mark "racing shoes" the standard black SSX wheels. Best of both worlds. That way I could experiment with the black rims as I could try different brand of tires, slicks, and so forth as I know I am gonna wanna take him to the local strip at least ONCE.
In fact, we have TWO strips within an hour of each other.

Either way thats one bas ass combo. I love how the SSX wheel tie in all the body molding, hood insert, stripe, front fascia and diffuser. Plus, I like the SSX open spokes showing off the ZL1 logoed calipers and massive rotors, just wish they were drilled and cross-slotted.

Sorry, I could not help it. Pick a color that you love. You will have it for a while. I hope you had a good birthday. It is 3:00am I am going back to bed.
