With 15K to spend on extras, you can make either car very, very quick. Hennesey and Ligenfelter have shown that they can make either of them fly. The C7 Corvette will be very different from the Z or the V. The C7 will be much more of a sports car than a muscle car.

The difference is, it's easy to find a deal on the CTS-V's right now. There are brand new 2011 and 2012's still sitting on the lots with the 2013 arriving. Needless to say they are motivated to move them. The MSRP on my V was 72k. I paid 2k under invoice for a 2011 in July. That's very close to ZL1 territory.

We have both a ZL1 and an 11 CTS-V coupe. For driving every day, the V Coupe is a better car. It is like taking the fastest car you have ever driven, and mixing it with the nicest car you have ever driven. The ZL1 is basically a Camaro with all the CTS-V's performance parts...with everything turned up a bit. It's a better all out performance car than the CTS-V...but it is still a Camaro. That means Cruze grade interior, Blind spots galore, and iffy ergonomics.
If I were buying a car to use at the track, I would get a ZL1. If I were going to buy a car to drive 10K miles a year, CTS-V all the way. That being said, the ZL1 |

you can't go wrong with either car. I love the CTS-V especially after driving my friends modded 09. They're out of my price range new so I bought a ZL1 and love it. I give the nod to the ZL1 for the exhaust sound, shifter, roomier front interior, HUD, PTM and the supporting performance hardware. I give the nod to the V for the Recaro's, better back seating, outward visibility, panoramic roof and interior appointment.
