The next GT500 may also target straight line and overall power over the track, vice versa or both, we have to wait and see.
Exactly Ford built that car to be a street and strip weapon. Chevy chose to make the 5th Gen ZL1 a track offering. Nothing wrong with either car.

Unbeatable excuse. Developed by the furd crowd.

When a given mustang fails at something. It simply wasn’t designed for it. Ford didn’t try

You can’t lose! Lol

Didn’t they offer a performance and track package? It was a expensive package with coolers. So it was also set up for track.

I believe they had the Boss for that not sure of a package offered for the GT5.

Lund tunes for some people trackside , the car I posted is most definitely one of them

however I think the results are duplicable if you put the effort in.

I always thought the 500 was built to be the ultimate muscle car. 662hp and 200mph top speed I think it achieved its purpose.

Probably why I find the 350 to be so disappointing. The Tech pack was an absolute let down

This is what was available for the GT500. Cost was $6500.

Every buyer of the new 2013 Shelby GT500, however, should order the $3495 Performance Package. This includes a Torsen limited-slip diff, sportier springs, larger anti-roll bars and, most important, cockpit-selectable Bilstein dampers with Normal and Sport settings.

If you plan to have some road course fun with your new 2013 Shelby GT500, order your car with the $2995 Track Package. This fits the base GT500 ($54,995) with an external engine oil cooler, plus coolers for the differential and transmission. Although this adds some weight to the car (SVT won't specify how much), the Track Package provides good piece of mind to anybody who will be seriously hard on their car.

Look I had the FIRST converter Yank made for the LS1, I had to do a whole bunch of measuring and shimming for it to work. That was "before" Yank made a converter for the LS1.. so what's the point? The actual question is does somebody make one for the A10 Zl1... probably and that same somebody could weld on new pads to the front of the converter, balance and wow, a converter for the 2018 or maybe take the GT flywheel off and drill new holes to mate to the ZL1 converter shim for proper depth. Wow rocket science.. not.

I'm not claiming anything at all, I'm merely pointing out that the fastest stock ones... ain't. The more bragging rights for said "stock" car yields more incentive to cheat. Soon there will be 412 cid strokers LT1s with oldman cam on wide lobe center (214 / 212 on 118 center). with .665 lift full port and polish of all stock parts, hidden E85 sensor, pushing 500+ WHP, converter, maybe gears deep into the 10s "stock" with drag pack, probably hack 1/2 coil off the rear and run 4 banger front shocks and hal adjustable in back.

I ran 440 HP manifolds, bored 11.5 CR, 2.5" head pipes, port and polish heads, hemi rods, thermoquat 850, 509" 292 cam, on my "stock" 440 Dart for a decade or more. And yes 440 HP manifolds fit if you know what you are doing. Heck most guys at the tracks I would tell them it was a 340 with a Direct Connection distributer in the front relocation kit. The Dana 60 sure look like a 7 and 1/4 318 diff, especially with hub cap and curb feelers all around....

That was my point all along. That if you take two average guys, one in a stock 6th Gen ZL1 and the other in the 18 GT with the Lund mods and put them on the same track same day then the ZL1 will win easily. Especially in hotter climates. If you put two really good drivers in those same cars and if it wasn't in ideal DA then I doubt the GT would stand a chance. In optimal DA with equal drivers I still think the ZL1 will win in a convincing manner. But to be fair, we still have yet to see what the 18 GTs can do in less than perfect DA both modded and stock.

I would hope a car with 82hp more would win in most areas, but the lap times were one lap wonders. There laps were slower each lap after.

The laps got slightly slower on the one mag test....but all were still faster than the ZL1. So there is that.

Inch or a mile, winning a race is still winning.

1.67 on stock converter isnt't shabby either.

car mods:
Drag Pack, Tune/e85, x-pipe exhaust, stock air box, 315 gears, stock stall, 10 speed auto

The car is far from stock...and at least the guy was specifying that this was only a 301a car with no PP...

They won one lap, after that, they lost...

In fact, it was so bad after the first lap, that it was no longer a contest.

http://www.motortrend.com/cars/chevr...-shelby-gt500/

I'll agree with you, if its just one lap, the GT 500 won it easily...but on a road course, it's generally not one lap....

Oh and....the ZL1 still beat the GT500 around the Ring..oh wait, Ford wasn't stupid enough to run the car around it....
