Rear speaker baffles

Does anyone use them?

With my rear seat down, the sound seems to get a bit distorted....sloppy, trying to figure out if these would help:

Boom Mat 6"x9" Speaker Baffles

Thanks for any replys

youre unsealing the trunk hence the crappy sound. nothing will change that except re-sealing the trunk

I installed baffles when I had the rear trim apart. I wanted to seal them off from the sub I put in. I ended up attaching them to the bottom of the rear deck. The baffles wouldn't sit in from the top of the rear deck with the shape of the 6x9 mounts.

I have everything back together so I would be installing them from below also, how do the speakers sound using them? Reading reviews on Crutchfield seems mixed.

Lot of times need the seat down so I am looking for the best options. I have sound deadened the whole rear area.

I think the speakers sound better than they did, but I dont have a reference with the seat down. I think you would be happy with it. I gotta imagine all the extra airspace with the seat down would make them sound worse. I installed mine with my sound deadener, but I would think that HVAC tape would do a good job sealing it up as well.

Those baffles are garbage. You are basically building a sub box with zero airspace for your speakers. The back waves of the speakers need to go somewhere hence the baskets they are built in being vented. You will also help to heat the voice coils, which will cause the speakers to fail. The only use for those baffles is in doors, as a moisture shield, after cutting away the bottom 2/3’s of them. If you are looking for better sound with the seat down, you will need to build some sort of enclosure for the 6x9’s. Idk how big it will have to be (not very big), but it will have to be a lot bigger than those baffles.
