2013 vs 2015 Camaro feature difference noticed - Camaro5 Chevy Camaro Forum / Camaro ZL1, SS and V6 Forums

So recently I upgraded from a 2013 Camaro 2LT/RS to a 2015 Camaro 2SS/RS 1LE.

I've noticed that when in my 2013, when i came to unlock the doors at night, the halo rings would light up as well as the DRLs.

With the 2015 2SS/RS 1LE, I noticed that when I unlock the doors at night, that the LED Halo rings come on, but also the HID headlamps as well.
Curious if that is new sequence that GM put in the Camaro upon unlock when light sensor senses no sunlight, or if it is not suppose to do that?

Only ask because I notice the difference by jumping to the refresh, and not use to the HIDs coming on when I unlock the car coming from my 2013.

Hopefully someone can answer this for you. I did something similar to you, upgraded from a 2011 1LS to a 2015 1SS 1LE, but both of those cars had/have halogen headlights that light up when you unlock the doors. I don't know that much about the RS headlights because neither of my Camaros had RS stuff on them. It could be the light sensor thing, mine auto turn on whenever the car started up (both Camaros) and the halogen headlights on low acted as the DRLs. LS had added aftermarket fogs that I installed, and the 1LE has factory fogs, but they only come on if I press the button for them. Sorry I can't be more help, but I'm sure someone with RS cars will chime in.

My 2011 2SS/RS the halo's & hid's both come on. Drl's do not, I hate those useless things. With that said I have never known any other way they come on. One of the guys I work with here just bought a 2015 2SS/RS and it's the same way. Halo's & Hid's.

Forget all that!

I would think the V6 to V8 upgrade would be the biggest difference Sarge! lol

My 2013 does the same as your did. Lights up the halos and DRLs. The HIDs are not light up until I start the car but I don't remember if just turning the key turns them on. The DRLs are bright enough as it is and are blinding if walking towards the car, couldn't imagine if they HIDs were on as well.

It seems to be a 2013 to 2015 upgrade much like the fog lights which were only really driving lights and did not illuminate much to the 2015 which is actually a halogen driving light that helps when driving at night.

Haha YUP! I am officially in LOVE!!

Can't believe I ever went for a V6 ... Gas mileage isnt the same thats for sure

So it must be a 2013 thing then? Thats weird, I don't mind the HIDs going on, just doesn't make sense why it didn't in my old one and did in this one.

my 2011 2ss has both come on if I go out to get something out of the car after dark. don't drive at night so no biggy to me. been that way since I got the car, guess I should crack open the manual and look around...

I think there is a way to change it (whether or not your brights come on or not) through the mylink screen.
