Who is happy with 1LS V6?
Will I be happy with base model? I am picking up a 1LS today - white. Anyone out there with anything to say good or bad? Should I upgrade to LT? I dont want or need bells or whistles. All plan on customizing is gutting audio/video, deeper exhaust, adding historic stripes and maybe changing rubber. Anything negative about the base rubber? I prefer the Hertage wheels. Thanks.

I'm more than happy with mine. I was okay with the wheels, but plan on changing them some time... Some of the other features ( 4 gauge pack, spoiler, HID headlights, etc.) can be purchased and installed later. Another thing, if you have 18" wheels the maximum speed is set to 118 mph, while the 20" wheels from the RS package allows a maximum speed of 155 mph. I'll never travel that fast so it doesn't bother me...
Good luck and post pics when you get it! |

Thanks for reply. Now you got me scared though. Are you saying the engine is governed to 118 with base wheels?

I dont know if you can upgrade the headlights to HID or put on the roof molding but most of the other stuff you probably could do. Really if the 2LT didnt have leather and was a bit cheaper i would have gotten it for the heated mirrors and seats plus the gauge.
But i just dont care about the leather that much but i enjoy the power seats, halos, and the HID's very much and the spoiler looks nice too but kinda wish it had a little more clearance between the car to make cleaning easier. I didnt really care about getting 20" rims either but i do love the style of them and how many people can say they have twenties lol. I dont know if ill ever get the guage pack since i kinda like to put my sunglasses in that space and the gauge pack, although cool, is also kinda useless. |

If you take your time you might be able to buy a fully loaded used 2LT RS for the same price as a new LS. You will end up putting a lot of the 2LT options in your ride just get the options and be done with it imo.

Thanks for feedback. The White LS I am buying is $22,499 plus TTL. Im scared now though about earlier post that engine is governed when you get 18" wheels. Anyone know about that? All mods I plan on doing is adding sound processor to stereo, upgrading speakers, add throatier exhaust, twin blue Z28 stripes and maybe stagger tires - larger on rear. For guages I will add the door pillar aftermarket temp and oil pressure. But the engine govern has me freaked!

I my LS, the fun with buying a base model car is upgrading it. I almost bought the RS but decided I wanted to put some work and love into the car and upgrade it myself. It's all up to what you want to do. But I'd say the LS is a awesome choice and they say on 3% of camaro built are LS's so you will def have a rare version of it.

The limiter is nothing a handheld programer can't fix. And your getting a V6, It's not exactly meant to go fast. And you can probably forget about getting a "throaty" exhaust, again... it's a V6.

Yes the base model with the 18" tires is limited to 118 miles per hour! I was bummed to find that out, after I bought the car. I still love the car. I've had it
Two weeks and have not needed to go over 80 yet. |

Love the car, did I wish I could afford a SS, sure. But if your handy and willing to learn you can do some of your own work. Installed fog lights, intake MRT exhaust and plus interior lighting and few other interior mods. Not sure how much I saved onl labor but I figured 5-6 hours of labor at 80$ , so any where from 400-500$ , As for the tires. if you shop arouind you can get the tires and rims you like and they should be cheaper than the 1 lt and 2 lt have, no knockin them, they are nice but it allows you to buy the car at price you can afford and then make the changes as you go. When i get my tires I will get the tune to raise the speed limit.

I have an LS and am happy as a clam with it. Save a few bucks by getting an LS and put a few goodies on it. Best car I have ever had. i saw some aftermarket black 20" wheels that are dead ringers for the factory ones, but only $161 each.

Surprisingly, I actually like the base, (or should I say Heritage) wheels. Thought about the $161 aftermarket knock-offs, but decided to keep the base ones.
