Mirror removal

Can anyone advise how to remove the outside mirror glass itself, and not the entire casing but just the mirror. I've been told they pop right off but I just don't see how event though they do have a push into place circle with tabs from what I've seen. I really don't want to break them so if anyone knows, I need your help on how to pry them off.

Thanks!

I had to do this recently, really it's as easy as it sounds. Put the mirror all the way down, then get a rubber squeegee or a trim removal tool (or something similar). Put a towel or the foam on the paint for protection and just slightly pry, the mirror pops off very easy. As for installation, just as easy, just use the towel as cushion and push in the middle. Tool and directions below.

Thanks for the info and I really appreciate it! So when you say "Put the mirror all the way down" are you saying to tilt it down toward the ground and then go from the top with the tool to pry it out, and do it from the center? If so, its a done deal and I'll go to Harbor Freight tomorrow and get some tools since I don't have any at all. Thanks!

Naw, not yet. I almost got T-boned by a non-driving, non licensed illegal alien when I left work and had to write some citations and tow his ride and by the time I got done with that, I was spent and didn't pick up the tools from Harbor Freight. I got a bad knee as well and have surgery a week from today so I'm at home with it elevated and taking it easy. I may make it out of the house today when my lady and I go shopping for grocery for Thursday and I'm wondering if Lowes or Home Depot might carry these tools? Harbor is a bit of a distance from me and thus I wanted to catch them on the drive home yesterday until Mr. Alverez disrupted my flow. I'll get it done now that I know how to do it. I'll keep you posted though.

OK, went to Harbor Freight and picked up the trim tools for $6 and came home and popped the mirrors right off. Took less time than I thought it would. By turning them down I was able to see a tab which I pried on which released the mirror and the rest was history.

Thanks so much for the info guys and have a Happy Thanksgiving!

And Happy Thanksgiving to you and your families as well!

I'll turn off the light in this room, on this thread as I'm the last one to leave.

Peace!

Thanks for the post - just had to do mine. Took 4 weeks to get from the US and 2 mins to replace, but I am a happy man none the less.
