That's why they invented street signs and put a compass right on your DIC. What did we ever do before GPS? Roam around never getting to our destination?

I use this. Has worked great for me. Only drawback as you really can't have you phone plugged in when driving. https://www.thecellbuckle.com/

Why would I need a mount for a cell phone in my car?

Some people like myself have the pre-touch screen radios. So I use my phone for GPS. I have the Droid RAZR Maxx HD and I use the appropriate Verizon mount. It suction cups to the wind shield under the mirror. Then I call forward any incoming calls to On*Star.

I have no touch screen in the car but I usually just dump my phone in the cup holder, use bluetooth for talking, and the aux cord/usb cord for music/charging. And on-star for turn by turn.

Yes, of course, you're right. GPS is useless. Pointless. I'm sure you do much better with a foldable paper map. Oh, wait, those are dumb, too. There was a time before paper maps, oh and a time before street signs too. Only the weak need these crutches of navigation. Just use the stars to guide you, or the position of the sun!

Anyway, for those of us that do like to use the features of our phones, such as GPS mapping, live, real-time traffic information, and apps such as torque, a car mount near our line of sight is useful. That's what this thread is asking for. Not your useless reasons for NOT using one.

looks cool, I wonder if you can clip it to the e-brake handle?

Thanks.

I have the Onstar trial, but don't want to subscribe for navigation, when my phone already includes the feature.

Thanks. But the no plug-in part is kind of a deal breaker as GPS and apps like torque use a fair amount of battery.

Just wondering what everyone is doing for a phone mount that lets you use your phone as a gps, etc, while plugged in.
Here's what I did:

I got the idea from a thread on here - I took a mount I already had which provides power to the phone and then mounted it to the piece of aluminum.
