Stock bottom end limit
Just curious if anyone has found a limit on what the stock bottom end can handle. I'm currently at 770 rwhp & thinking I am close if not pushing it a little. I would like to add a small shot of nitrous but am a little scared of it. Any info is appreciated.

It seems with all packages, the bottom end is fine...check the link for research I was doing. I wound up going with JRE 75 rwhp with tune.

770 rwhp seems like an upper limit to me. I would say to leave the nitrous off the car unless you go to a built/forged internal short block. Ask someone like ADM to see what they think...I bet they would say to "do it at your own risk". With 770 to the rear tires, do you really think N20 is necessary?

I was 807 wheel hp on the dyno when I blew a head gasket on the road racing course and hydo-locked the motor trying to get back into the pits. I think you can get away with a little more if you only use the car for the 1/4 mile. I know of a guy that makes over 900 with nitrous but only uses it on the quarter mile. He has not had a problem yet. I know another guy that that had his LSA over 1000 hp on nitrous and blew the head gasket at 180+ mph at the Texas mile. He saved the motor but pulled all of the nitrous parts when putting the engine back together. I think you are already at the safe limit. You roll the dice if you add nitrous to what you have, eventually it will blow and how bad the carnage will be depends on your luck. Good luck.

Thanks for the info guys & you're right Stephen 770 is stupid ridiculous on the street. I did the wanna go fast half mile this past year & would like a little more when I go back. I know I may gain a little with my shifts but I need a lot to make that heavy & boxy thing run with the vettes. I was just thinking out loud I guess on the nitrous. I may roll the dice. The good thing is I've got other ways to get around if it does blow I guess.

The 1000+ nitrous car I mentioned above was over 170 at the half mile and was using a two stage shot. The second stage of nitrous came in at 180 and instantly blew the head gasket. He would have had a killer run, maybe 210 if it would have held together. If you don't get too crazy it will probably work in a half mile.

honesly you are already beyond what any tuner that sells packages will stand behind.
I would not add any spray to you current comob as a rod or piston failure could break other parts. then again I am poor and have to try to minimize part failures. I would think will a pison and rod swap you could comfotably add a little spry to the mix.

Thanks for the info. I may try to make the event in Texas. 149....sweet! I love to go fast but to be honest a 1/2 doesn't seem like near enough road....lol.
