On the 2011 and newer ones you can buy just the valve because they redesigned the canister and it makes the valve a lot easier to replace. |

$118 is pretty nice... At least compared to the $900 I was quoted by the dealer. After speaking with the dealer and GM customer service the dealer agreed to go 50%/50% with me on the cost, but that's still way more than I have to spend on such a small part.
Does anyone have pics of it on the car maybe? A DIY would be great, but I would even appreciate a couple pics and helpful tips!

Well its kind of hard to explain. You have to cut the bracket the valve is on and you still have to lower the rear end but not like you do if you was to remove the canister. It will need to be on a lift.

For the 100 fee to read to code, if you have a android smart phone, get an app called torque, it will read codes and even lets you clear them. The app is $5 and you need a Bluetooth odb2 dongle for about 20. Best 25 I ever spent!

so recently took it in a third time, they needed to replace the vent valve again...least no question about it, just it was under warranty have a good day.
Wish GM would make it official that they got a bad batch of these and do a recall...I mean my understanding is its a safety issue right? |

they seem to be pretty confident it is not a leak somewhere else...not saying it is, but hard to get them to do anything if they dont think so. maybe if it pops up again ill take it somewhere else for second opinion

On page 30 or so there is a detailed list of covered parts:
Page 30 Emission Warranty Parts List Evaporative Emission Control System (Gasoline Engines) Canister Canister Solenoid and Valve Fuel Feed and Return Pipes and Hoses Fuel Filler Cap Fuel Level Sensor Fuel Limiter Vent Valve Fuel Tank(s) * Fuel Tank Filler Pipe (with restrictor) Fuel Tank Vacuum or Pressure Sensor You notice that the Canister and the Canister Solenoid and Valve are listed that should be for 8 year / 80,000 miles. hope this helps |
