Hood liner Question
I was wondering if any 1LE owners have removed the engine compartment hood liner and if it allows the heat under the hood to dissipate any faster. Can you tell the difference regarding engine sound too? Just curious.

I know one thing...taking your engine cover off and your hood insulation off will def result in more NVH.
As for temp, I've never actually measured with a device. Others will have to chime in on that one. |

I have done this. I want to hear my engine and it probably makes little difference in heat but I think it is mostly done for noise cancellation. Vibration, I don't think it makes any difference. It's just kinda ugly underneath as they did not bother painting that part.

So under the insulation the underside of the hood is not painted?

I'm almost 100% sure that it is, never saw a car in our price range with just primer showing, lol, but the real question is, like many cars today with cost cutting in mind, is it clear coated or not?

Insulation isn't painted...its a fabric type material

Yes its painted but it looks like a 3rd grader did it, it's not nearly as nice or polished as the rest of the bodywork. There is minimal benefit to its removal unless you provide a location for the heat to escape. Removing the engine cover and intake cover definitely help reduce heat soak since it gets it away from the engine and intake air.

When I put in my vents I noticed that the hood under the liner was painted as if just to make the paint look good at the edge of the liner. The rest was just over spray. Besides it is not very pretty under there.
