Yep - I got snowed in as well. Had a drift very similar to the one tbarber had, but it was right up against the side of my car.

My poor hubby spent most of yesterday pulling people out of ditches and those who were stuck in the snow with his HD Silverado. I gave my brother in laws hell because he had to pull their F250 and Dodge LOL

I thought it was bad up here, but I believe the OKC area has it a lot worse.
This is why I don't live in Minnesota with many of my relatives. |

We had a blizzard here last Saturday night with some huge snowdrifts, luckily my Camaro is in my garage for the winter.

tbarber87: That 6 foot drift is amazing! I thought I had a bad one - a 3-footer along the chain link fence between my house and the neighbors'.
It took quite a while to get rid of the 18" drift across my driveway (it slowly tapered down to about 6" at the street.) I was getting cabin fever and was completely out of soft drinks so I "had" to get out yesterday. To the best of my knowledge, the only other rear wheel drive vehicles I saw were pickups. I bet it was the first time I've driven and didn't see another Mustang - even at the grocery store. |

Well your in NY!! Here in OK the most we get is a massive ice storm that traps us in for a few days. . .so any snow is amazing to us, let alone 6' drifts
Adams: Before the 2010 I had a firebird that I drove ALL weather, it was a mess haha like I said before, luckily my dad has gratiously (sp?) volunteered to drive me around everywhere for the next week or more in his big bad truck |

I had a (beloved) 99 Firebird that was my one & only vehicle. There was one morning where I was the first person to leave the neighborhood. Looking in the rear view mirror, I could see two trails from tires and a perfectly flat space in between where I was very lightly snowplowing. Driving in snow/ice (and especially in a RWD vehicle) always gives me a bad case of white knuckles.

I didn't get out today, but yesterday they weren't all that bad. Getting out of my neighborhood was scary (ditto for parking lots), but once I hit the main roads I was immediately greeted with long stretches of dry pavement and "just wet" pavement with intermittent slushy/snowy/icy sections. Some sections of four lane roads were down to two lanes because the outside lanes were filled with snow from plowing. Still, traffic was light so it was no big deal.
You also have to know a lot of people here freak out after a light rain in summer. Expect to be delayed by goobers driving 30 MPH under the limit on dry pavement because they can still see snow under a tree 500 feet away from the pavement. |
