Winter Beaters?
Could you please post what you are driving for a winter beater. I'm starting to look now and it's not looking good. They are asking to much for junk. Reliability at a fair price does not exist.

My DD is a 2000 GMC Sierra 1500 Z71. has 2wd 4hi 4low neutral and awd everything on the truck works as new. only 100k on it though. I have 4 studded snows for winter and its unstoppable. driven it a few times with snow up over the bumper. Payed $8k with 89,000 miles

Winter? What the heck is that? All I know is hot and not hot. (I like hot, no snowbirds!) DD my Camaro anyway, so that.
To be a bit more on topic, anything "reliable" will be expensive because reliable means it holds its value. To be totally honest, if its a winter beater where the roads are salted, don't expect it to last to long. I'd look for cheap, not full of rust, heat, and runs well. Hell, maybe a v6 4th Gen? The 3800 engines run forever and they're pretty easy to wrench on if need be. They can be had for a few grand too. Otherwise, I'd suggest a higher mileage truck or something. With appropriate tires, anything should work. |
