TPMS and Snow Tires
Hi,
I bought the entire set up from the Tire Rack. Blizzaks,, rims and TPMS. I installed them yesterday. No issue. Wheels look great. My question is I expected the TPMS alarm to sound. Flashing lights on the dash and Blackhawk helicopters circling the skies informing the federal government that the TPMS had yet to be set up. Nothing. No alarm, no lights, no Blackhawks. What gives? |

You should have to buy or borrow a tool to associate them to the car. Did you drive it yet?

Light came on!
Not sure if I hadn't gone far enough or not fast enough. Either way it is lit now.
Will I need the tool each time I switch between my summer and snow tires? Or once both are set up can I switch between? What does the tool cost and were do I get one? |

Have to do it everytime you switch, but a very quick process with the El-50448 auto tire pressure monitor sensor activation tool for $38 from Amazon. Works great with the 6th gen.

Now only $20 or so for the cheapest versions. With the 4 new GM OEM TPMS sensors I got for $52, I'm feeling pretty happy

Just ordered on from Amazon.
Now I wait. I will say that the light is not that big of a deal. On my last car if the light came on it really got your attention. I would consider driving with the Camaro light on and knowing this I might have not purchase the TPMS. Still better to have 'em. |

I think the ZL-1 1LE also has tire temp sensors and my research indicated those were definitely different, the SS 1LE appears to come with the number above according to multiple sources. I'm going to set these up on my winter wheels and not even crack open the OEM ones until it comes time to get new tires. Getting the winter wheels over the next 2 weeks or so, 2 trips down south and using airline baggage |

I ordered and received the TPMS tool from Amazon. Cheap and fast. Make sure you are on the tire pressure screen and not the tire temp screen. Simple. Fast. Hit the button and the car goes into program mode. Get out and point the TPMS tool at the stem and your good to go!
Anyone considering this should feel very comfortable that getting the cheap tool is the way to go! Even if the deal will do for free, this is faster and cheaper when you consider your time. Get it and shut that damn light off. |

I believe any of them work as long as the number is the same.
I purchased from Amazon the Vxscan EL-50448. Cheap, quick and simple. |
