Going HP Tuners, Locked by Trifecta
My car currently has a trifecta tune. It was done quite a few years ago. The main focus of the tune was really just to get rid of my SES light so i could pass inspection. The light was for my headers and no cats. The tune has served me fine but im looking into Dyno Tunes. I found a place with great reviews but apparently my ECU is locked by trifecta. The guy who tuned it has my stock file, but no cable or software. Can the Dyno tune guy use the file to unlock with HP tuners or am i screwed and need to find someone with trifecta software? I would ask the Dyno tune place but they are closed and im bored at work so figured id ask the crew here...
As to why im going Dyno tune.. I feel its better than mail order and Im swapping exhausts to full 3" and im swapping intakes to the GPI ported and rod mod. I know neither of those necessitate a new tune but im trying to get this car tip top before my next track day.

There are tuners that can hack the lock on the tune, but I don’t they are extremely common. Usually the easiest thing to do is SPS program a stock file with tools other than GM or replace ECM with one programmed to your vin.
Some of the bigger/better tuners will have the tools to program back to stock. |

Good luck on track |

Thank you I was going to post we can unlock them.
If they are locked you can't SPS them either. SO a dealership wouldn't be able to over write it. |
