Window Tint

Maybe this has been addressed elsewhere and I have not noticed it, but I was wondering if the windows come already with factory tint, or will I need to have this done?

You have to get it done by yourself. The Camaros I seen came with no tint ... The dealer may tint for you but it would be cheaper to go to a shop and have it done to whatever tint you want.

What percent tint would look good? I don't want people to look in but not too dark. Because I still want to see people outside. By the way I live in NY so I think there is a limit on the tint. And what percent should the rear window be tinted?

I'm going to get mine tinted 20% which is illegal in MD but I don't care, I want it to look good. I'm also getting the front windshield tinted 20%. My brother has his windows tinted this same way on his Z4 and it looks great.

It's going to be hard to tint them. We noticed the one that my dealer has the windows are different. When you open the door the window comes down about 1/2 inch and when you shut it goes back up. I am wondering how they will tint like that. If it's sown some when the soor is open you would shut it and be missing a bit of tint. If anyone has had the windows tinted please give us some info...Thanks

You guys should have some luck with this. If you take it to a shop that has done BMWs or the new Mustang they will have no trouble with this. There's another thread about it, but basically you use the car lightly for a couple of days and are totally fine. I got mine done and only have 1 very small bubble.

I got 20% on everything but the windshield and it looks nice and even. Noone can see who you are, but if a cop shines a light in he can see, which may get you some leniency.

i believe there are previous threads about this that state the windows are already tinted, its just a small amount. mostly this means be careful with what you are doing to the car, because the tint will add up quickly.

GM windows are usually factory tinted to 80% (light penetration) in the front and 20% (light penetration) in the rear. At least this is the case on both my father's Cadillac CTS and Chevrolet Equinox.

yeah, new york is 70% sides and whatever you want in back. And the top 6 inches of the windshield can be tinted some, but that looks pretty stupid.

Unhook the battery and the window won't index like that. Problem solved.

Trust me when I tell you, dont do that. You dont want to disable window indexing. You may damage your door trim when shutting the door after it's disabled.

A quality tint shop can tint your windows without disabling the window indexing. They are used to it. Alot of new cars do it now-a-days. Call around until you find one that can do it. Everyone that has gotten their windows tinted so far has been by tint guys that knew how to tint window indexed cars.
