6l90 transmission
How smooth is the 6L90 transmission. I've got a 16 camaro ss and the A8 is the worst transmission GM has made and has given me nothing but trouble. I'm looking at 5th gen ZL1's but just wondering how the 6L90 is in daily driving. Once you modify the car does it still shift good or will it have issues. Just curious. Thanks in advance

If you or your tuner know what you're doing it is a great trans but a bad tune will trash it very quickly...and its a lot different than tuning a 4l80. Leave all or most of the torque management and make subtle time and pressure changes and it will take a lot of power.

How is it in part throttle daily driving. That's where the A8 that's in the 6th gen camaro is horrible. Harsh shifts and really jerky.

I thought there was a TSB for the A8 — including the torque converter shutter during shifts.
May want to ck that first. Dealer should retune the trans under that... -Don

I've had it flushed 3 times, converter changed, and reprogrammed. It's just inherent to the A8. They ever had us switch to the new Dexron HP fluid and that didn't help anything. It's just a pretty lackluster transmission. Looks like the 2019 with have the A10 which has proven to be a much better transmission.

One more option:
https://www.mobil.com/English-US/Pas...etic-LV-ATF-HP For those hard cases — gm Recommends this now when Dexron HP fails -Don

So I am about to undergo and ZL1 6L90 transmission swap into a 2010 SS and I have decided to buy either a rebuilt or remanufactured transmission and upgrade the converter and leave it be since I don't plan on taking it to forced induction and it'll save money. I read this article https://transmissions-101.constantco...0-transmission on the standard 6l90 about remanufactured vs rebuilt transmissions, do ya'll think there is much of a difference? Also, what are some good torque converter options?
